I have had mean mean Cock birds attack & grab a hunk of forearm & twist & pull...feels like someone got ya with a big pair of pliers & pulled a hunk of skin out !
Giant bruise & hole the size of a split pea....hurt like the dickens for days.
Hornet stings on me feel horrible, swelling, burning & ache for days.Doc said that was an early allergic reaction & so I carry an epi pen.....that is why I am thinking that raising bees might not be a good thing for me to do...

I let my layer flock out in the garden yesterday to free range, no Cocks in the bunch, just girlzzzzzzzzz and so I let the Skovie girlz out too....
They waddled about eating stuff & dirt and an occasional pea gravel....dug in mud holes & got along just fine with the chickens and the dog...and then they wanted to go to bed with the layers....so I herded them back to their pen.
I am liking them more everyday !

darn it all Julie !!!!!!!!!!! You did this on porpise !!

One note about my computer:

While it has super increased speed now, and Comcast did nothing to the lines, just uploaded Google Chrome, there is still one thing that can slow this system down to an absolute brain dead halt, and that is when Norton background scans are running..............

Famous for slowing the system down !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks eenie.

Its just so weird. She was out with the rest of her flock yesterday and was even out playing in the dog kennel and roosting on top of it. She was so stiff so she must have passed awhile ago. Poor Star. Just thankful my daughter forgot to do her chores, otherwise I would have had a very upset 8 year old right before school. *sighs* now I am down to 4 in the coop and 4, 3 week old pullets.

RIP Star.

Okay, I am 244 posts behind with no chance on getting caught up tonight. I leave for Bonney Lake in the morning to stay with T Hi. I will be going to the Tacoma Dome on Friday and Saturday to wtch the boys. Very excited.
Well I know she is on the road now so I can hit the road to go on my "shopping trip" to the dry side of the state. Lets see now what birdz does 4312 have that I want. Bumble and who else? O it's gonna be a fun shopping trip to the midnight chicken supply. Yeah you know the one in Omak at the corner of grab em and run.

Thanks eenie.

Sorry about your girl. Keep in mind that birds in general tend to be very good at masking illness. Today they may look fine and be toes up tomorrow. Many times by the time they show signs of illness it is almost too late. Now I am not saying if one has a bird show up ill to give up on it. Not at all.

Ya I agree I dont wanna eat anything that I am not sure how it passed. I am sure hoping the rest of my flock will be ok. Chicks are cute and all but I'd hate to start all over again. I will surely miss their tasty eggs.

Hey YOU were the one that wanted to trade remember??? I can't help it if they are just the best ducks in the world!!! They get along with chickens cause they were raised free range with them, and even tho my dog wasn't allowed in the pasture with them, she was always on the outside, not too far away, and the cats slept with them, so, yea they have been exposed to a lot! I guess I claim ignorance when it comes to geese and ducks, I know I've heard of geese chasing you and I never wanted any because of it, in all the research I've done on Sovies, the only time one would do something like that, is if you kept them by themselves and allowed them to bond with you one on one. Then I read, they may get aggressive thinking you are their girlfriend around breeding time. Other than that, most people don't raise them separate like that, and they usually do a good job of staying clear of people. At one time I tried to people tame them but, I just had too many and not enough time. These girls are from the end of summer, I had way too many at the time and couldn't handle them all.
And CL.... glad I could help!! LOL!!
