It would help her greatly IF she was home to tend her flocks, which she is not....she is in college, and it must be horrible to leave you birds to other's care and have this happen, and predators, and be so far away there is little she can do about it....frustration !

It makes me feel so sad when I read all her posts. The bad luck does not seem to have an end. When it rains, it pours. I hope spring brings good luck and new chickens in equal or better odds.

2 pumps I can understand...but one was a boot ???????? Ha ha Ogress you just make me laugh! !!!!!

Does it help that the heels were the same height?

Who is going to the Monroe show? Will anyone be bringing babies? I think I am gonna try and make it with my kiddos. Just depends on when my husbands flight gets in.

We all get our Brain Farts. I was hoping it was a pregnancy thing, but I have not been pregnant in over 10 years.

I went to the gas station after a really long day of driving, and I couldn't find the tank opening, I was stumped and then realized it was on the other side. I'd driven the car for 3 years, so I should have known.

But my worst brain fart was when I was still working in a genetics labratory when I was 8 mo pregnant with DS. We had a client meeting, so I was wearing a pencil-skirt business suit. 6 pm, after a long day, I went into a bathroom stall, looked at my feet and started laughing hysterically. Person in the next stall wanted to know what could be so funny, was there some funny graffitti? I replied "No, I've been walking around all day and I just now noticed I'm wearing 2 different shoes!" She said " oh, I've done that before, I wore a black pump and a dark navy one."

I said "Oh, this is quite different, both my shoes are black." We walked out of the stalls and she fell over laughing. I was wearing a black pump on one foot, and a tall, lace-up boot on the other!!! I don't know why no one noticed all day. Those Belgian scientists we were meeting with must have though it was some new fad here.

So, yesterday I classified ad my Buckeye eggs for sale~~
And they have been laying great after the dark blizzard we had (UGH!!)
And sure as POOP the sky has been dark the last (?) week and 3 hens are thinking about being broody but not quite yet..
So I open a nest box door and there is 2 in 1 nest...one doing the laying & one ready to sit...the have the "village" mind.
So I get my little red girl out AGAIN, and she lays in my arms, and we had a talk...and if you are broody you are going in the layer pen..."NO! She said!"
But I put her in there .......closed the gate (again this is 10X now if it has been a minute !) and of course the otjher layer attacked her & she fended well & I watched to make sure she was OK, from afar !
She fly up on a roost branch in the pen & called a sorrowful cluck !
So out I go..and standing out side the pen I asked her "what is up?"
"You wanna go home ?"
So I went IN the pen & held my hands/arms outstretched & said, "OK let's go home" and she jumped into my arms...............
This is not the first time these hens have hugged me !!!!!!

I took her to an empty coop, and put her in where we had a bit of conversation while she looked about.
I then brought her fresh compressed straw, made a nest, and left.
Then I went inside & got 4 eggs out of cartons, XXXX all oer with a felt pen, and laid them in MY NEST.
There is 12 nest boxes in this coop.
She glamed on as soon as she saw them !!!!!!!!!
I gave her water & food, quietly, and this mama Buckeye is sitting TIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!

I may have to end my Buckeye classified !!!!!!!

She lays anymore, the eggs will be collected.
And in exact about the right time (and if she sits tight) she will get the 11 Black Java eggs I have in the incubator, correction:::She will get 11 Java Chicks !!!!!!!!!!
