I remember when I was just starting a family and the older folks would say, once you are a parent you are a parent till you die. I thought, well duh. Stupidly thinking biologically but another duh, I get it now.

Good news on his hand but speedy healing, inside and out.

So I got home late last night. My son's is doing ok. He hit a hard surface with his hand and a few fing were huge, but they dont think anything is broken.
I went back to his place and sat with him and talked. Little by little he's telling me things I wish he would have told me years ago. Plus he was talking about his wife and trying to fig out whats going to happen. I told him he's as a hard place right now and when he makes up his mind what he needs to do some of that will stop but other hurt will start. But it wont last for ever. He's going to talk with her today so we shall see. The two of them both need healing...
You know for some stupid reason when I was thinking of having kids I thought when they grew up I wouldnt have to worry about them boy was I dumb

The only time you dont worry about them is before they even start..

The media sucks. Bunch of blood thirsty weasels.
Such a sad way to start the day. Watching on the news the reports of a WSP Trooper who (according to news reports) was killed in the line of duty. So sad. And as if it is not bad enough. They have not released the troopers name until next of kin can be contacted. So the STUPID NEWS MEDIA makes a point to try to zoom in on the license plate of the troopers car so they can try to figure out who it was. See for those who don't know, the lic plate is also badge #. Lucky the lic plates had already been removed early on.

My greatest sympathies to the family, friends and co-workers.

Best to those of you facing trials.

BTW- On the lighter side- Rustler, did you see the 3 year old thread that popped back up to the top? about using paper in the coop? We both posted on it. Wonder how old that makes us in chicken years?

Trying to break our puplet of "herding" the chickens. The buffs have pretty much layed the law down with the dog! "Piss with us and be pecked! " The ee's simply ignore her, but the 1 of the 3 marans allows herself to be seperated, stopped, and then the dog mouths her tail, he wings, the wee pin feathers along her lower right leg. The dog seems to be herding and playing with the chicken. We have developed a command of "no chicken" that we yell in a shrill manner to spook the dog as much as let her know it is not good behavior.

There are not many times that we are not within sight and/or sound of the dog when the chickens are out where the dog can interract with the girls.

Remember how when you got your first Brinsea you were getting the small one so you didn't get into too much trouble? Guess you've solved that problem! Just get TWO!!!

Just so's ya know, I got a cabinet gQf (not my first, I had a little one when I was a kidlet) and you can get into SERIOUS trouble with a gQf cabinet !
They are AWESOME to say the least....and it just isn't "right" if it is running with only a handful of eggs in it...........
