Ok guys I just wanted to give everyone a update. First off my kids are fine. Thank goodness. But here is what I know. Between 11:45 pm and 12pm a 50 year old lady robbed a coffee stand at gun point. She fled on foot east bound towards the schools. The Arlington Police Department Called the schools and placed them on lock down. At 12:01 I got a phone call from the school district stating simply " Your childs school has been placed in lock down do to an arm robber spotted on school grounds". Into a panic I went. No calls in no calls out to school. Meanwhile as my daughter tells me her and her brother were both in the gym having lunch. They were told over the loud speaker this is a lock down and this is NOT a drill. Teachers need to fallow proper lock down procedures. The kids were then told to stay at their tables and finish their lunches. Once they were done they were given paper and crayons to color and draw. My daughter said she was scared but her teacher was there and there are no windows in the gym so she said she was ok. I guess the biggest worry was there is only ONE bathroom. LOL. AT 12:23 I got a second phone call stating that the lock down now included all Arlington Schools and the District office. The news ( King 5 ) then flashed the lock down on TV but didnt report anything further. At 12:47 I got a phone call staying the lock down had been lifted. That K9 units had cleared all the schools n school grounds. My daughter said once it was lifted they were taken back to their classrooms. Where her teacher told the class that their was a robbery in Arlington. That a 50 year old had robbed a coffee stand and that she had been caught. They were however informed that they needed to be careful when they went out to recess. And were told the lady was in a black hoody and jeans. ( she said they told them just in case they got the wrong person). They then went about their day.She said that their teachers went out to recess with them not just the recess aids. As soon as I picked them up they started telling me all about it. But they didnt seem any worst for ware. So apparently she was caught but I dunno for sure this is just what my 8 year old told me. But Thanks guys for the support. I know it wasnt chicken related but I was in panic.![]()

Those aren't "nasty little puppies" how can you say that - they look soo sweet!
I hope it turns out well for everyone and that your school does a better job at lockdown than ours. Maybe the staff will keep them entertained so they are not thinking about it.
Both my kids were in lockdown a 3 years ago when they were in 2nd and 4th grade. They were out waiting for the school bus, all the buses had left already except for the one my kids take. They had just gotten on the bus when someone spotted some boisterous teens from the neighboring alternative High School walking toward the playground with what appeared to be a gun. The principal had the kids walk from the bus to a classroom in which the entire long wall was made of windows that faced the playground. Why he thought this was a good idea is beyond me - why not an interior classroom with windows to the courtyard, or the gym or a windowless room? All the remaining students and a few staff were in the room, duck-and-cover earthquake style under the desks. I think there were only about a dozen students. The principal and office staff were in the office. NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL THE PARENTS!!! I was wondering why the bus was so late and was calling the district office who knew NOTHING. No one was keeping a close eye on the kids in the classroom, because my way too curious DS got up and walked to the windows and watched all unfold. She said she saw the teens run onto the playground with their gun, and a whole bunch of men in vests sneaking running and hiding around the school grounds with their guns out and pointed toward the teens.
The bus finally brought my kids home an hour late with NO EXPLANATION! I had to do an internet search of the local newspaper that evening to verify what my kids were telling me. Later in the evening I got some short call, I think it may have even been recorded and it was the same call that went out to all the parents of kids who attend the school. Nothing specific to the parents of the few kids who were there at the time. There was no mention of men with guns drawn or anything. The ink to the newspaper article is below. I was volunteering at the school the next day and I told my daughter's 2nd grade teacher what Olivia said she saw. I was told she was lying, that no kids ever saw the gun, and Olivia never went to the window because they kept all the kids safely hidden. Later in the day, the teacher went into the teachers lounge and repeated what I told her Olivia saw. She came back and said Olivia's observation was true. A SWAT team had been called out, some of the police were plain-clothes, and they pretty much surrounded the schools. She was sent to the school counselor and told not to repeat what she saw to anyone as it might scare the kids! I was furious! I wated to know why the parents were not called. I was told the principal and office staff could not access the list of kids who ride that bus, nor could they get to a phone from where they were hiding (yet they thought it was fine to put the kids in the room with a wall of windows facing the playground!).
The blinds they mention in the newspaper article below are in the office. I don't recall seeing any blinds in the classroom. Certainly they were not down if Olivia watched it all unfold.

Ya I would have been very upset. Lucky they were locked in the gym. I was so upset and worried because just the day before the school shooting in Bremerton. My daughter had saw it on tv and she was worried about going to school. She has really bad anxiety issues. She panics and hyperventilates. Her dad was deployed to Iraq when she was little so she has emotional issues and control issues. Thankfully her teacher was there and he knows her situation and was able to keep her calm. I am glad I was home because the calls didnt go out to cell phones and they were just recorded messages that dont tell you much. But I guess all is well that ends well.![]()
Please make sure you mark that DARK egg layer with glow in dark. So I will be able to tell easy who she is in the dark when I make my shopping trip.Okay, before I got distracted by School Lockdowns and Harp music (DD plays the harp):
