This is the pen rivers (up hill from the garden)

See how the spring ran to the coop door & mud was everywhere ! I have to dig it out, and now there is a "moat" the chickens have to jump over when they come out the door.

JUMP !

Duckles having a blast !!!!!!!!

This water is running FAST !!!!!!!! And drowning worms are everywhere ! Chickens are having a great day eating them all.

Hey Chickie lady,

Nasty water run off! Curious about the black hen about to jump the moat. What kind is she? I had her twin a few years back (Inky). She was not at all friendly but a gorgeous and smart girl. Mine came from a barnyard mix of hatching eggs. Is she a particular breed? Or a mix?

Thanks!

Sorry I am not a stale dognodule fan. But the cinn raisin sounds good.
Tonight I didn't have anything for dessert so I mixed up some biscuit mix, added a little cinn, some vanilla some splenda and a little honey (that goes in nearly everything I bake). Then added some apple pie filling I had frozen. Baked until done and drizzled honey on top. Not bad for having no clue.

Very nice indeedy CR! Sounds totally yummy. Of course, I would have to have a couple of scoops of Tillamook Vanilla Bean on top of that.

One mine a olive egg does lay and other the one blue she lays egg.
Not really sure what are thye she calls em OE's. Mine arre crows would be tamer more.

What are your kids looking for??

For sure there are 2 sisters that are looking for quail d'Anvers. I have read the males may be aggressive and that would be bad. The family is afraid of roosters because the mom got attacked when she was a kid. I am convicing them that it is time to get a male so they can breed, and they are excited but nervous too. They might be looking for something else too, I'm not sure. A couple kids need something small that would make a good showmanship bird. I only have a few cochins and they are terrible. They are so tame that they don't want to walk. This year I have several new kids that only have sex-links or something from the feed store. They love their birds and there is a class for them in our local fair, but a bantam is much easier to do showmanship for the junior age kids. My problem would be that I like almost anything with feathers.

That's a tough one!! Sometimes, you can see their combs are just a little more pronounced then the pullets. You may have to wait till they start crowing, chickens are posers you know!! LOL!!

Something else to look for is the shape of the hackle feathers. A male has pointed ends and the female has rounded ends. Yours might still be a little young.

I cant belive they didnt put the blinds down. When my oldest son was in 1st grade I think it was they had a lock down when we brought our kids to school. I asked they what was going on they didnt tell me. I called the school when I got home and asked again. They than told me that a little girls almost got taken going to school. Oh No I said than I asked them if the guy looked like this and told them someone was in my neighborhood and they put me straight through to the police. You got it I say the guy, now if they would have told me at the school they would have knowen where he was right than. They did get him , he was a teenager. That scared the daylights out of me, I got more involved with the school than so I knew what and when things were going on. With the blinds thats all the teacher!!!! If they didnt have blinds the kids should have been moved...

Then maybe Olivia stood by the window and held the blinds aside to see as she definately saw what was going on; she knew details that were not publically released. I could see her do that. I don't recall ever seeing blinds in that classroom. I know it well because it is the room Alex had to go to for years with his IEP stuff, and the classroom has an awesome view of Mt.Si.

Nice, was the BCM egg from my girl?

I think maybe - she just started laying for the year. I think it is her frst egg since sometime in the late fall. Are they darker when they start? My other BCM from CGG was hatched from a very dark egg, much like this one, and she lays a very dark egg, but it is a different shade of brown with lots of freckles on it. There was only 1 BCM egg yesterday, but since it is so different than the freckled eggs from the younger hen whom I have seen lay eggs, I suspect it is from yours. It is much darker than the eggs I got from her last year, and it had no freckles.
