This is a photo i found on the interwebs of the Silver Laced Orpingtons. Hope this helps! Purdy they are!

Thanks! I do know what they look like, silver laced is only recently been introduced using Wyanndotte. so was just wondering who had them and how long they had been making them. I am a bit of a different type of breeder, I tend to view it like dogs and horses, an orpington is no longer an orpington if its half wyandotte. it takes lots of generations of breeding out the other breeds characteristics to bring it back to an orpington while keeping the coloring you were looking for. and I am NOT saying anyone is doing any such thing but if its half this or that I find it kind of wrong to say its an orp when its half and half. and I only said Orp cause thats what I have lol apply that to any breed. just my opinion. carry on.

CL hurry up and get some hatched ! cant wait to see them! lots of folks working on some cool colors these days

Completely understand. Wasn't sure, so I just grabbed a photo. For us, I would like to find the breeds of chickens that were used in Western Europe in the mid-late 14th and 15th centuries. Some research needs to be done. Just need to get around to doing it.

Where did everyone go ?

But that's exactly the problem, people ARE adding other breeds.

I saw that a breed had become extinct except for one Cock in the ealry 1920's, but it was "BROUGHT BACK" by using other hens. But for me, it's just NOT the same breed, it may be a look-a-like, but it's NOT the same.

I have crossed birds that resemble Icelandics - many Icelandic breeders can't tell the difference, but I KNOW the difference, and it would be fraud to sell the crosses as such, even if you can't tell them apart.

Just my take on it. . .

UGH I just got home from the store... i ran out of eggs and need some to do some baking.... $2 for 18 eggs... OMG I need to move where I can have more chickens... Right now from my 4 I am only gettin 2 a day.
