I been busy being moody, improving every day. I still chat with John every day and when we talk we sometimes have 'slip ups' in our conversation or there is the awkward silence where normally spoken responses are witheld. The pain is still there and the feelings towards each other is still the same. I just need to see what else is out there.

I have been trying to catch up on homework i have become behind on.

Now that my status is single i suddenly know how my hens feel like when there are too many roosters.... One good guy friend already made a pass, it annoyed me because i'm not ready to see some of my guyfriends in that light.... .... and the guy i do like is enjoying hanging out more.
We went to a ball on saturday evening and him and my friend had fun trying to teach me how to dance.... the hot guy i like is pretty good at dancing.... and oddly him being super tall didn't seem an issue at the dance. (me, 5'1", him 6'3") his new blue hawk brings out the blue in his eyes.... its always hard not to stare.... i think i got the spring fever.
I sorta feel like i am chasing something out of my league and can't believe i have caught the interest of such a nice guy.

Dad had to move Pidgin and BB out of the tractor to another tractor because the BLRW hen and rooster were beating them up. the other 2 breeds sound like they are settling in ok, the Light Sussex eat alot and lay like an egg per day. but i knew these are older birds and wanted them for future breeding, not crazy egg laying. that is what my mutts are for, hybrid vigor.

I miss my birds. I miss my dogs. The sun is coming out earlier and the sunny days are starting to feel good.

The sun is important for depression and mood disorders, hopefully you will have all your hard work and anxiety behind you soon and you can get home to the things you enjoy and miss so much!! take care of YOURSELF!!! very important!! ( do I sound like a mom??)
My daughter just turned 25 this month, we have had lots of these discussions!! And FWIW I miss HER very much!!

Also wanted to add::::::::::::::

Birds sick with salmonella look & act sick, and maybe you have seen dead birds around ?

Song birds are very likely to drink from & poop in horse water troughs and contaminate the water.

Read the article & sent it to your vet.
And get some bleach solution in the water !!

So I've been chomping at the bit. Can't wait any longer. The Brinsea is warming up. I'm going to set that lone silver Ameraucana egg tonight. (Lone, silver? If it's a cockerel I think we should name it Ranger). Then tomorrow morning I'm picking up more eggs from zgoatlady just to keep the solitary egg company. I was really hoping I'd get some more Ameraucana eggs this past week from my gf's new silver, but she's been stubborn and not laid at all. I was looking forward to some Ameraucana chicks. I blame FlyRobinFly for showing us her cute blue babies.

Actually, I just want more babies in the house. But these aren't for me. I'm not keeping these. I'm sending them to my girlfriend's house. Seriously. I'm not keeping any of them. I mean it.

As to hardware cloth and the coop winners, I think its important to remember that not all of us live in an area where ground predators are the major concern. Where I live the major problem is raptors (Bald Eagles, etc.). I have a well fenced yard and two Basset Hounds, so ground predators are simply NOT an issue here. Racoons, weasels, feral dogs, etc. don't come around here because they don't want to deal with two crazed, howling dogs or the doggy daycare behind us!

Knowing your predator vectors is important when you design your coop. Roofing and netting was our first priority. I did not want to set our breeding pens up as the corner grocery for the Bald Eagles and Falcons in our neighborhood. So far so good *cross fingers*. Frankly, I don't think they want to deal with the Basset Hounds, either.

Any local folks in the Skagit Valley/Whidbey Island area looking for Black Silkies? We have a bumper crop. :D

Very true. I have 4 mutts (smaller dogs) and I have a chain link fenced yard. I do tend to be a little slack in the "wire" dept. As I don't need to worry. It is the "sky predators" that I need to worry about too.

DH is leaving for yet another trip to visit NorCal in the morning...so we are packing up stuff & getting shopping doen.
he will be home Sunday at the latest.
He WILL draw out plans for you all to see as soon as he can.

And after the 5th of next month, I will have 2 broody Buckeye hens each has 12 eggs and a broody Java with 11 eggs, all hatching at once, and all will be up for adoption (although I will leave each hen a few babies to raise.

Turkey hen is also broody, so will be letting her rasie 6 of her eggs...........and now Splash Lucy (ameraucana) is screaming broody too !!!!!!!!!

Next thing ya know, the dog will go broody !!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL....Poor dog. I tried to check on eggs under one my broodies and nearly got my arm pekced off. Next I stuffed 2 more eggs under the other broody....she puffed up, growled, and pecked and twisted. Sheesh. Get bruised and bloodied just for "checking". I learn fast...I won't be bothering those mommas again any time soon. the cochin-bator should start hatching here in the next couple of days. The Barred Rock-o-bator is just starting on her process...but she is the one who growled and twisted.
