Yes that's what I've heard, although some VA docs actually recommend them, hmm what is that saying?? LOL! This is what I know, I have been walking with a limp for a very long time, and the PT I went to told me she thought my pelvis was out, and the Chiro confirmed it, and said I was actually shorter on the right side. He did his adjustment and I am still limping from pain, tho not even as bad as before, but, I am no longer short on the right side!!??? Interesting that acupuncture isn't as accepted in other parts of the world?? I do believe that there is only so much one can do. I have seen cases where the Chiropractor keeps bringing a person back for the same issue, but, too I have also seen when used in conjunction with medical message, some good come of it. I for one will not being going back time and again if it's not staying put! Insurance or no insurance!

Golly! I'm such a loner on here!! Everytime I get on you guys are gone!

As to accupuncture, my wife went to Dr. Kenneth Lee in Olympia. He took very good care of Birdie, (yep that's her name), an excellent MD and he also does accupuncture. Just incase anyone is interested and needs a treatment.

"fart eggs" are eggs without shells. They have the membrane though, holds them together. At least this is what I call them. I think "fart eggs" may be a number of different things though. Mine have layer, oyster shells and only have scratch when I throw it to them once a day...and a minimal amount. You can actually go and BYC search fart eggs and see photos. very odd looking.

SadiSue,
Was good to see you again. Asked my DH if I could go to the show,he said why not.. So Im going to ck the dates and rooms and see about it. He told me it would be good for me to get away and have some fun. I also need to see if I'll have anything hatching that weekend.

Whoo hoo!

I think it would be a great idea for you to spend a little time away on your own! My gf and I are headed down on Friday morning and will be staying thru Sunday. We staying at Best Western Cascade Locks across the river from where the show is held. They were offering special rates for the poultry show. I know a lot of other folks are staying at that hotel too. Do you know what day you'll be headed down? Fingers crossed, the eggs you gave me this morning should be hatching a few days before the show so the babies will be headed to my gf's house for her DH to take care of. I don't trust my husband to be quite as obsessive about caring for the chicks as I am.
Glad you're going to make it to the show! It's April 20th - 22nd.

And thank you for meeting me this AM to hand over your bee-you-ti-ful eggs! I can't wait to see what hatches from them!

(I hope it's chickens!)

For those building coops you need to do what works best for you.
I see a common trend people going to the coop pages here and elseware looking for ideas which is good I did the same.

Yet, here are some things to consider...................

I build my coops to stand up not to walk in for a few reasons.
These reasons go together...................

In the worse of wind, snow, my chickens still come out of the coop and go stand underneath their coop.

This way the coop can be smaller if need be cause only time they spend in there is to eat, lay eggs, sleep.

I make my coop long instead of like 4x8. My first one I built 4x8 and learned from that one.

I measure my arms with a bit of leaning over and there is the width of my coop.

What this does is allow me to reach the back corners of the coop without getting in it or leaning way in ruining the back.

Clean out is a breeze this way instead of my first coop when I made it 4 feet wide.

I also build big overhangs so you can stand in front of the coops doors with no water coming on you.

It is important especially in this state that you make the care of your chickens as pleasant as possible due to the rain factor.

I can not believe the amount of coops I see with no over hangs. Why do that to yourself?
I have a front and two sides with over hangs.
Back only hangs over about 6 inches so water only hits the siding in a side ways wind driven rain.

One of the biggest reasons years down the road people quit chickens or taking care of them as well is burn out.

If you are getting soaked while taking care of them there will be times you won't do as good a job cause you are miserable standing there.

When designing your coop eliminate the cleaning problems and you have made a better quality of life for yourself.

Good points Greg. I asked for overhangs when my coop was built. I got just enough overhang so the rain drops down the back of my neck when I'm collecting eggs. I'm not complaining. I'm grateful to those who built my coop, it's just that I've learned to wear a broad rimmed hat and scarf now when I'm out there in the rain.

Z-goats: How many goats do you have now ?

and what kind ?
I seriously do not know too much about various breeds....and at this point in my life I am not sure I want to commit to goat raising....they do require human contact & care and we have so little time to give to goats...so not sure if I will ever have any.

They are such awesome creatures though !

So I can tell you we have Nubian's and Toggs, cant tell you how many because than I have K___ you LOL. We have a lot let me just say that.
Nubian's have great milk but so do Obers and San. A lot of people say they don't like the Togg milk because it has a different taste, but all of the people in Europe love it and like that taste. I feel they do need human contact at least ours do since most of them started off life in my front room until they wouldn't stay in the tub any more and wake me up at night.. right Julie..
My house is a animal house and I'm very lucky I have my husband because most other men would have strung me up long ago.. I love my goats.
They are not that hard to take care of really.

But I thought a Fart egg was just a really small egg

I've got a few in the last week. I've always called an egg without a shell a "rubber egg" one you could roll around in your hand . what do ya think
