I'm from Washington! New to BYC and new to chickens, just in the planning stages now. I live near Gig Harbor, on 5 acres, can't wait to have my chickies!!!

to the craziness of all these peeps except ME!

I don't have an answer to the shell less egg issue. As I'd posted a couple of weeks ago, Juju, my special girl who will be a year old in May, has never laid me a decent egg. All I ever find from her are shell less eggs in the nest, or broken yolks she's dropped from the roost. She is fed the same layer diet as the other girls, has access to oyster shell, gets fed additional greens but just cannot give me a good hard shelled egg. It's frustrating but I won't cull her because she was my "first hatched" and she's the only one who will voluntarily climb 10 steps up to the kitchen deck to look for me. I think there's just something wrong with her. If she ever lays a normal egg I will rejoice as if she's gotten straight A's on her report card.

So I have a question for everyone,
Ive been contacted to breed some of my goats and than sell them to someone overseas, they will give me at least 300 per goat and they will go to a dairy than Im sure in time will be eaten.

I know in my heart it would kill me but what would you all do? If I did it the one's sold would pay all of my goat costs and maybe more. The person who's been doing it for the past few years in one of my good friends and she said get over it and just do it.
It kind of goes hand in hand with me wanting to have meat chickens and not being able to do the dirty deed. I know if I did it, it sure would have with the money for next year but than again food costs too.
Tell me what you think.

I love my goats they are like my kids. I dont think I could do it.

Money or no money, you have to do right by your own heart.

Did you go to court yet, or did I miss that on the MI thread? What have you done about the nasty witchy lady?
I just got the ticket on Friday and I have 15 days to contact the court to set a date. I'll drag it out until next week before I call.

Yesterday was pretty funny, she was out back and I gave her back her house key. She said she would return mine and I said not to bother because I changed the locks already. If looks could kill!

I'd be dead.

Would anyone near Orting like a pair of Wyandotte chicks? (girl & boy). They're 3.5wks old, white with black spots.

and also, since I haven't posted here before.. Hey fellow Washingtonians!! I am located down in Orting(by Puyallup) and have a small flock of chickens, mostly Wyandotte chickens but also have 3 OE's as well. They're mainly for eggs but I have been hatching like crazy this year and getting lots of lovely little babies =)

and skovie duckles ??????????? Well welcome to WA thread !
