Does anyone buy bulk grains from anywhere? I've been trying to find a grain mill in washington but can't seem to find one..are there even any? Lol

UH yes!! Eastern WA is one of THE top wheat producing states, so there are quite a few, I have heard that the Connell Grain growers had an office or a mill in Yakima I believe, I have not looked into it really close only because, I have to be able to justify the cost vs how fast I can use it before it would go bad, ect. The issue would be do the sell to outside consumers?? It's worth a try tho.

I must have missed a good story somewhere.....
I wouldn't call it a "good" story. It's unfolding on the Michigan thread and we are getting some cross-chat.
Anyway, my neighbor (who was my best friend) called the city on me and I got a ticket even though the inspector neither saw nor heard a single chicken.

I'm kinda interested in having one goat on the place. weed control and just another pet. What would you recommend?

I have goats; my little darling thought is a little french alpine cross named Danica (i'm sure any car racing fans will understand). She is a bit smaller than normal, and totally hysterical. sometimes I take her for walks and people stare at me like I'm a nut case. She's the one at the bottom, with the "racing" stripe round her middle. She is incredibly gentle. comes when called and generally well behaved (for a goat).

Well you always have to have 2 goats they are herd animals. How much land you have? What kind of Fences and shelter? Id also start by saying no Bucks they smell in the fall, but wethers are great and so are does.

Everyone keeps saying that yo have to have 2, but I had a friend who only had one and it was the happiest little guy. Horses are herd animal too, but how many people only have one? Tons of them I guess it depend on how you keep them (My friend who had one goat, well, she had him in the house like a dog, and took him everywhere with her, so maybe that's why he was so happy!)

Thats a hard one. I had meat chickens for the first time this year, I thought it would be hard to do the deed but in the end I knew it needed to be done. I am not religious by any means but I said a quick prayer and was thankful for their life. It didnt make it easier but I was able to get thru it knowing they had a good life, fresh air and didnt have to live in a 2x2 cage with 3 other birds and could stretch their legs and their wing. You have to fallow your heart if you cant bare the thought of them being eatten then I wouldnt do it. You need to be at peace with your choice and be able to sleep soundly at night. What do you do with your goats once they get old? Have you ever thought of just breeding around here and selling your babies at home? I have been looking for pygmies myself but I have noticed there are A LOT of people looking for quality goats. And you can never have to many babies

A friend from my Peace Corps days is going to take some of my chickens back to their place near Pullman this weekend. My ex is interested in some chickens, too. I'd like to keep the Brabanters. I could if Mr H would clean the coops for me, but he wants too much in exchange.

If you're interested, I'm sure we could work out some type of deal where I stop by once per week or so to clean out coops. Let me know.

I'm trying to see if I can find a respirator that filters particles of five microns or smaller.

I'm sure the ones we got were smaller than that - the silica dust in our studio can be very very toxic so we are careful when mixing glazes, not to mention some of the other chemicals and I know himself is very cautious about stuff like that.

I REALLY hope you can find one. Some of those with the two pockets for the filters - you can get different grade filters for them.
