Here I am trying to figure out why things things get so exciting when, I go missing for a day or two. All this talk about hospitals and ER's is enough to scare a girl.

I think you should all get a better hobby like some nice simple safe chickens.

Well I haven't caught up yet, but I hope at least everyone is still alive.

PS I may have to give one or two of you some safer methods for getting pains meds. So far it seems awfully scary the way y'ere going about things. I hope everyone is recovering tonight.

Another question for y'all -

What' the minimum height for the fence?

California Bay Laurel (anyone need fresh, organic bay leaves??)

So...  Yeah...  Rambling...  Fence?  Anyone?

So fencing, you can do the picket to make it pretty but use a wire fence at least 5' tall this will help keep dogs out critters in and the wire does tend not to be super visible so the pickets would look cute.

Just a heads up.... California Laurel is not Bay

California bay (Umbellularia californica) is sold to you as bay leaves you buy at your grocery store and use in your recipes. It is cheap and fast growing plant so it is commonly used by food industry.
Laurus nobilis Bay Leaf Tree Native to Mediterranean regions. Mediterranean Bay Leaf Tree is used in cultures worldwide as a essential cooking spice. It is slower growing and more picky about where it grows.
The two trees are not even in the same plant family and there is no comparison between the two for culinary use.

I have some Mediterranean bay in my yard if you would like some to compare :)
My trees were not supposed to survive the winters here, so were planted close to the house for warmth and protection...... now they grow to fast and winter does nothing to them.... This means I have 5 trees in my side of house planter boxes/areas.... Yikes!

I am going to have to try your Mediterranean Bay Leaf. I use bay leaf from the grocery store very frequently, but I am always interested in less common or mislabeled varieties of spices.

Hey! I was tempted but with my one girls sick I just don't have the place to brood them. AND I am going to Boston to visit my sister in 3 weeks or so. So I can't have any babies right now. But believe me... I was tempted. OH! And I was thinking....I know, very dangerous,

but we could help each other build new coops. My DH And I, and maybe even my son, could come help you and you guys could come help us. We could have pizza and beer handy for the guys, Ok and maybe us. Do you think they would go for it? Just a thought.

It was good to see you today too. I forget how close you are to me. I'll have to have you over sometime soon.

Sold my first 2 chicks this morning. Got on facebook and read that one had passed already at her new house. The lady says they were chirping alot when she put them in the new brooder. She thought it was stress from the car ride. Or they got to cold from the transfer from my brooder to hers. They were sleeping quite contently when I had them at the church (pick up point). I am guessing her brooder was to cold or the chick got bullied from one of the slightly older chicks she had. 1 1/2 week older orpingtons.

The chicks were a week old. Should I wait till the chicks are older before selling them next time?

(reposting this) I think it got lost.

I will be eventually. The one's I'm selling are my originals, that were more pet quality. Too big for showing and dark legs. I have kept two of the best of them and also hatched eggs from Castle Delight Seramas in January. Once those are old enough, I will have hatching eggs available or I can hatch some for you. Have to get pics of the CDS chicks. Haven't taken any in awhile and they are gorgeous. I managed to hatch out one frizzled roo and 4 hens (one of whom is also frizzled) and they are all a tricolored mottled.

They are sooo cute!!!
