It looks like Camas lily. Camas lily is edible.

Not camas. I live in a South Sound prairie town with camas in the front yards and every empty lot. Definitely not camas. This one has foliage like cosmos or love-in-a-mist. I swear I've seen it on the front of a seed package. It would be nice to know if they self-sow.

Alright, I give. Stick a fork in me, I'm done. These stupid animals are driving me up the wall. I've got two of them in solitary for going after the others, and now the other 3 are pecking each other. I have tried treats, entertainment, extra protein, blue spray, every dang thing I can find to make them stop, but I will not start crafting little coats for these birds and I will not spend another dime on them so help me. The factory farms got it right. Nonsentient, vicious, brainless animals like these don't warrant going to any trouble for so-called "quality of life." If no one wants them they will all be killed this week. Screw it.

They can be frustrating little s**ts sometimes. I am counting the seconds when I can put mine outside, and then into a new *divided* coop. The littlest one is the worst. But she is a banty, and a tiny one at that and the others will tower over her.

Sometimes you can get the bad luck and get a flock of awful birds. My first flock was so calm and serene and wonderful. And funny! They can be wonderful, but yes, they can be awful sometimes, too. I am always reminded how happy I am that, chickens being descendants of dinosaurs and cousins of the T Rex, we don't have gargantuan, chicken-brained carnivores running around the planet anymore. The T-Rex in Jurassic Park looked way too intelligent. They should have watched some chickens for a while.

Mikey. Can't tell from picture. Enough room for the chickens to stand under coop? If not go buy four of those concrete blocks. If coop to heavy use car jack. Place them under legs. Not only does this give you enough room it stops water from ruining your wood. When coops are off the ground the chickens won't stay in their coop messing it up when it rains plus you increase the room in their run.

No, that's some sort of Delphinium- probably tha annual Larkspur. Camas blooms in early May and has star shaped flowers, to whit:

so far i am going crazy. My 19 chick babies are almost big enough and the weather is almost warm enough for them to go outside in the pen with the other chickens. For now they have days outside in a dog play yard thing. My mud puppies (ducklings) are all 6 driving me crazy. I had never realized before just how messy they really are. when I was in high school (20 yrs ago) I had ducks of this type.. But the babies were always outside and it was warm. For now the ducks are getting introduced to the ducks and turkeys by having playtime in the big duck pool in their pen. So far no troubles. My muscovy duck eggs are supposed to hatch anytime but they haven't.. It's my first time incubating eggs. last week there was movement in them... I could see beaks and little feet and lots of movement. They were put into the bator on March 7 So shouldn't they hatch by now. The temp is steady at 100 degrees. The humidity is steady too. I do a lot of looking through the windows on top to see if I see anything happening. Ugh. This is worrysome and frustrating.

Hey Greg, howya doin' ? The coop is raised 20" off the ground for that very reason, concrete in ground with a 4x4 saddle imbedded. The 4x4 are treated lumber. The end shown in the pic will be closed off with skirting as it faces West and gets 90% of the wind as will the North side.

Good Mikey. When you do your floor if you can go get some scrap pieces if you know a flooring guy or if you have to pay go to HD and get yourself some linoleum. It's not that expensive and the return is worth it. This saves your floor wood and makes cleaning so much eaiser. If you never laid it before no big deal you can do it. If it was your house I'd say hire a pro for good long term wear etc but for your coop you'll do fine. You'll be glad you used this for flooring.

My DD's performed in all 4 Daffodil Parades yesterday and their poor faces are pink pink pink!! They must have sweated off the sunscreen!

I have been trying to get some cleaning done around the house. BORING!!! But hey! Somebody has to do it!
