My eggs are in lockdown-it's day 20. Trying not to bite my nails. I have 13 Breda Fowl and 1 Blue Copper Marans egg (from my own hen) that I put in with the Bredas. I haven't used an incubator before, just a broody hen. And I somehow don't have any faith that this styrofoam box could really work. And if they do hatch, I get to scramble for a place to put them in a couple months!

Well good hatching vibes to you too ! Now I have to go on pasty butt patrol & then clean 1 coop and then shower & get to work on this painting.
Everyone have a great day !

She'll get back to you. She has always been good about that.

I know, she does have a life too.just lettin you know what is happening.

Busy last few days- DD turned 24 on Friday, and her brother and his fiance came over for the party, so I had more help/distractions than usual Friday and Saturday. Finally talked to my cousin-next-door on Sunday about hatching some Hamburgs to raise and BLRWs to sell; he's got his incubator full of pheasants right now but will put my request in the queue, so to speak.

Settled down to nine hens laying and Malvina sitting hard, praise be.

Bought a Desert King fig this weekend; it'll go in a big pot so it can be moved to warm microclimates in the fall. Most likely it's going where the stupid mildewy bud-balling Souvernir de Malmaison rose is now, in a protected SW nook between the back porch and the kitchen corner bay window. I don't have braincells at night to get an actual plant order written, and am basically budgetting $20 a week to spend at Burnt Ridge at the Farmer's Market.

Still need to find some old 5/8 or so iron pipe to have welded to my extensive collection of old handleless shovels and spading forks to make a travelling fence; I can't truly free-range because my cousin's chickens are everywhere (I have trouble objecting until I improve the scary plum thicket) and I sort of don't want to anyway.

Lilacs blooming everywhere, both BBG hybrid magnolias in full blaze, and no hired hand again this week. Best go figure out which top priority critical emergency to deal with first

I just finished a project in the yard using electrical conduit. It is very sturdy and only about $2.25 for 10 feet. I went with McLendons, cause they cut it for me. Way cheaper than any other option I looked at. I think it was 1/2 inch, but not sure if that was inside or out. And easy to paint.

So my sister and her roommate were fighting (like most roommates do) and her roommate agreed to move out. She moved out today and left my sister a parting gift--she peed on my sister's BED! Who does that? Especially someone with a psychology degree that needs a job?!? My sister called the cops...not sure what they'll do but my sister is going to take her to small claims court to get her to buy a new mattress for her (my sister's mattress is less than 7 months old!)

I would submit a written complaint to the licensing board of Washington state (I'm assuming WA, change the state to the appropriate one) with a copy of the police report. They will investigate her for mental stability.

Fwiw, I'm a Psych grad student on temporary sabbatical dealing with health issues. I assure you, our industry doesn't take that sort of thing lightly.

Nothing much going on around here. Just wanted to share some pics from my friend's home.

These are great shots, Trousers looks like quite the character (and he is giant!) and love the one of the chick peeping out from Ethel's wing.

Not only should your sister get her money for the bed but, for emotional distress!! LOL!! (ok, sorry maybe that wasn't funny)!? I am truly sorry for your sis tho!
