Quote: I was talking to Dawn when I met up with her this morning to get my Lotion bars! I love them and I am going to be letting all of my friends try them and hopefully sending some business her way! SHe is awsome! ANYWAY.....I am going to be gone that weekend because it's Memorial day weekend and youngest DS has a LaCrosse tournament down in Lake Oswego, OR. So if we can do it another weekend or if she still needs help after I will come and do anything. Except maybe windows!

Well we are preparing for a long day to the big Oregon Poultry Swap. I hope the weather is good and I am able to sell LOTS of stuff. See yesterday afternoon on my way home from town my truck decided to strand me at the fuel stop. Seems the truck felt that it needed more attention than the $70 of diesel I had just poured into it's belly. Ooooohh heck no that just wasn't enough it wanted a $152 replacement starter or we weren't moving anywhere. So I managed to bum a ride home. Cook dinner for DW. Bum a ride back to town and borrow $$ to bribe the truck with said new starter. Then of course I got to educate the guy at the parts store. Seems he had no clue how to use their test bench. You would think I would get some kind of discount for that but NOOOO ! After 4 hours I had the truck fixed and was headed home. Then time to pack. Oooop's looks like those few last minute items won't get finished. Oh yes and finally all done and ready to get up and going at 4:30am and look it was only 12:30am.
I kinda think it's gonna be a long day!
That stinks about the truck but I'm glad you coaxed it back to life. Hope the poultry swap was good and you sold lots of goodies.

Nice spicy peanuts!
Glad you're enjoying the little guy.

Quote: Oh, I'm with you, love those bath bombs! We don't have a big enough tub to use them either, alas.
I bet a nice lavender one would be soothing.

I'll help you (and 'cause we are friends you don't get to pay me) AND I'll bring a spinach salad.
I see that Kim's up for it and so is Dawn and so is someone else that I don't personally know.
Sounds like a work party to me!
You want to wait til it's warmer and dried out a bit.
What does the weekend of May 26 - 27 look like for you? (Dawn and I are free that weekend.)
Other friends - would that work for you?

I'm the someone else. I *should* be around Memorial weekend, was originally heading out to work cattle with my dog in Ellensburg but we're probably not doing that now. I typically work Saturdays so Sundays are better for me, but with enough notice I could be there on Saturday if that's better for everyone.

I'm looking at that same weekend - I'm thinking it will work. I have to check a couple things, Olivia leaves to go to Lake Crescent for 4 days with her 5th grade class on the following Monday. I was supposed to go to, but the Dr. nixed it because of the daily 5 mile hike. Always stumped me - we live in one of the rainiest towns in Washington, I think second only to Forks (and sometimes we beat them too). Why doesn't the school choose a camp on the dry side of the mountains? It'd be an entirely different eco-system to study, and much closer too.

I'll cook up a bunch of easy to make foods (or have one of my friends here who is an awsome cook do that job) and then you can all make yourselves some jewelry before you go home since you won't let me pay you. I like the work party idea - I'll gladly help with others coops in return.
I'll enjoy looking at your jewelry stuff but you don't need to give me anything. Knowing I helped you is payment enough.

And CL, would love it if you could make it too!

Need your help all you Washingtonians, if you can spare a few seconds to reply!
Here's the inside of my coop. The current roosts and the hanging feeder are temporary since I plan to keep the feed/water outside. See the shelf in the back of the coop? I was thinking about making the roosts above the shelf (since it is closer to the top of the coop, heat rises and we live in chilly climate). The shelf has linoleum on it now and I could dust it with DE or some sand to make scooping up the poop easier. I'd probably do that 2-3x a week...ish? I could put a 2x4 across the front to keep droppings and sand from spilling down below onto the litter. Their roosting boxes will be under the shelf, raised up about 18", also creating more floor space instead of taking up precious room for them to walk around. My question is how will the girls get up to their roosts and get down again? I want something installed in the coop that can be moved around or taken out so cleaning out the litter will be easy (as will spreading more litter and DE). I guess I just need some suggestions on placement of a ladder for them to climb or something of the sort. If you look at the left wall of the coop, there is a piece of board attached to the wall with hinges, and it can be swung upward; if something were placed underneath it, like a pole, I think it would be a nice halfway point for the girls to jump to and then jump up top, but I don't know if full size birds can jump and flap up that high safely. Help!

Where is everyone today?! My girls had a nice 2-3 hours outside today while I added litter and DE to their coop and started a list of stuff I need to finish our coop and run. I hope it happens sooner than later, the girls were so happy to be outside! What a nice day, I'm really looking forward to the next week of nice weather :)
