Cailet Tempest - wow those babies are super industrial strength UGH-LEE. Honestly, I thought those were massive tumors - until I started reading. I never saw baby bunnies. I assumed they had color to them - like newborn puppies. The only pinkies I have ever seen were mice and I really don't care to see anymore of those. Everyday I learn something on BYC. I know the bunnies will be adorable later.

To any new peeps that may have sneaked in thinking ya were un-noticed I say

Well we made it to the swap in Canby and all went well. The weather was decent, cool and cloudy but NO RAIN. There seemed to be a good turn out. And to put an AWESOME finish to what had been a good day. Nearly all the people were gone. DW, Jeanine and I were chatting and looked up to see a bald Eagle circle above us. It was low enough we could see the color on it's beak! I think it was checking to see if there were any unwanted chickens left behind for dinner.
Yes it was a good day but as usual (for me). Not without a near disaster. See as we drove into Canby this van came up on my right and was trying to say something to me but then they suddenly turned off. I had also noticed a police car pull in behind me as I came into town. So this cop follows me from one end of town to the other. Then he pulls up on my right and says (yer gonna love this)hey did ya know yer trailer door is open it's been flopping all the way through town !!! I was polite and thanked him. HOW can he think a person would drive knowing the doors were swinging open! Coulda been ugly but all was good. I am still puzzled by this as I normally watch my mirrors a lot. But we were in town and I was focused on finding the park.

I think WE need to look into doing something like this in WA.

So now it's off to the tour of wineries to set up for the day!

Hey y'all, just popping through. Hoping to take advantage of this gorgeous day today and get some things accomplished outside. My hubby has the kids at church now though, and I couldn't go because yesterday I overloaded on gluten and dairy (I'm totally allergic to both) at a women's church luncheon and now have a headache so bad it kept waking me up from a dead sleep last night! The upside of that is the headache woke me up and Igot to see that amazing moon several times! It was so bright! So since waking up I've had my morning shake, a cup of coffee, 800mg Ibuprofin, and 3 glasses of water, and still I'm in agony. Hoping it goes away so I can join in the outside fun later, we want to finish the coop and run over the next few nice days, woohoo!

Whoever makes those soaps and lotions, I'm interested! My kids and I have eczema (not as bad as when we were still on gluten/dairy/soy, but still a little bit) and would love to try it on that! Please PM me if you see this and I'll order a bar

DH and I would love to start a compost bin but have no idea how big of a bin to start out with. We live on half and acre, mostly grass in the backyard (therefore a lot of clippings from that much grass) and have 11 chickens. I imagine that cleaning out the coop every other month or so will produce a LOT of litter to compost but I can't figure out how much. It's a 5x7 coop. I just need some sort of starting reference or link to a product that would work for us.

If anyone needs an extra brooder kit let me know. I am trying to sell ours (along with a chick feeder/waterer) for a good price. It's a 2'x4' wood box with removable mesh lid and a place to hang a brooder lamp. I added a roost for chicks to practice. Also, I have a RIR 5.5 week old rooster I'd like gone. All for $50, brooder for $45, roo for $8. Let me know if you want this stuff or can think of someone who does. Thanks!!

Chicken poo breaks down pretty quickly because it is 'hot'. My compost bin is made up of 5 pallets ziptied together in the shape of the letter E. I put the raw in the left, turn it over every few days for a week, and as it breaks down I move it to the right bin to let it break down more. You can get free pallets just about anywhere. We get ours from Del's and Probuild.

Eagles are gorgeous to look at. Very awe inspiring. I wish I could have made it down for the swap.I would have enjoyed it. I have to agree with chicken rustler we should have something like this in washington. I know for a fact I would go to it even if just to ooh and ahh over the chickens.
