State rabbit convention is here in Eburg at the fairgrounds June 23 & 24. Free to go in and wander around. good place to buy rabbits or get sellers info so you can buy at a later date.

Also rabbit supplies on sale. Guinea pigs too. I have had lots of rabbits for the past 12 years. Had to give several away when we moved here last year but did bring 10 in the van with 3 dogs and 5 birds, a baby and 2 adults (humans) Now that was a trip. Not hard to tell when it was time to change the bunnies' hay litter. Got pretty ripe.

There are shows in other parts of the state. Check the WSRBA website for schedule.

Well, you probably won't like my answer, but we are looking for meat rabbits, my husband was raised on them, I myself, not so much. I was a vet tech so the only rabbits I handled were pets. Anyway, for us it's all part of the self sufficiency we have been working on. I myself would like to have registered stock, so I can have something to sell to kids who may want to show ect. We are getting things a bit at a time, and we aren't in a hurry, we have goat kids coming and I will have my hands full for a while, I just want to get the information, so that when we are ready we have it all lined out. I'm sure I will have a favorite or two, it's just my nature! Like my chickens and ducks and turkeys, I love them to a degree, but, they do serve a purpose.

Well shoot. I went to upload the latest pics of the coop, run and the girls and apparently my camera went toes up! Looked for my card reader, found the cord but no card reader. Not suprising, I spend a lot of time looking for things. Nah, it's not old age, I've been doin' this all my life. I put something away where I know I'll find it and then forget where it was I put it. Frustrating.
When I find the reader hopefully I will be able to upload the recent pics.

Oh I'm not finicky! I grew up with a major hunter for a dad and have seen it all. We grew had any of our own food, be it from a garden or livestock, but I'd LOVE to grow more self sufficient. One thing at a time...chickens, then garden, THEN maybe rabbits

I was hatched and raised in Warshington and nothern Oreeeegon. We didn't never useta hear no such things until we was invaded by those wantin to change things to the way it was where ever they came from. If it was so good there then why do they come here tryin to change things.
I really like the idea of the split but I think the line should be from east to west with one way roads headin south. Maybe that would help by reducing the cauliflowerians!

You are dreading they find out you are EXERCISING your RIGHT to have chickens? Huh?

Ask yourself if you could go ahead in time to ten years from now knowing the whole time you missed out on one of the great fantastic benefits of owning chickens would you still feel this way?

All this time you threw those benefits away because you are letting neighbors control you missing out on better flowers, vegetables, more soil.

IMO it's way past time to tell your neighbors you know a good real estate agent they can use if they want to keep on whining.

There have been a few instances where my chickens have free ranged over the fence to where my horses were kept and accidentally run over, or the time one of the hens freaked out and got caught between the barn and the water trough and killed herself!! Those things bothered me! I mean it is what it is, but, I do not wish a cruel or agonizing death to any animal!! Self sufficiency I think is very important and the thing is Lot's of people are capable of doing so, on small lots, if they have the ability to really want to be! Good luck, you'll get there!
