good for you!!!
Well, I heard some cheeping under my storage shed and my first Muscovy duck hatch of the season is here! I had incubated one duck who hatched two weeks ago, and I was taking it out to the brooder, (in the storage shed) and the hen heard it crying and came flyn out!! So, I ducked my head under the door and looked way in the back and I could see tiny beaks looking at me!
So I grabbed my net and caught her and put her up and it took me TWO HOURS, to extract these babies!! I want to hand raise them and by the time they would have come out they would be wilder then march hares!! Anyway, it was too narrow for me to fit under so I had to take my grabbers, ( the ones you see on tv) and extract them one at a time!!I was really surprised! There were 10 and some must have just hatched, but they were so cold!! Anyway, all are under the brooding lamps so, they are nice and warm and have plenty of food and water!![]()
Oh darn that is to bad, I am sorry to hear that. The 8 chicks here are doing great though. Even the one with the cross beak.Well it looks like my 2 silkie babies are going to have to be put down. We have tried to fix their foot problem but with now luck.
They insist on walking on one of their feet side ways. And I can't get them bandaged well enough so that they have to walk correctly.
sorry bout that!! I've had to cull a few like that too, dang it!!!![]()
how nice!!I have a baby turkey now!!!! it hatched out early this morning... YEA!!!!!! I finally understand the term pip and zip. I got to see it happen.
Woohoo the little turkey is still wobbly but drinking water. I am pretty excited so far 3 animals have hatched from my bator. I think i'm doing pretty good....

Also I really wish you lived closer ( as I am not available to drive out to you for a while) I would let you use my egg turner!
Well the news here just keeps getting better....Not so much. Found out that my little sister Rachel (14yrs) has been missing sense Friday the 11th. My dad is such and idiot, he has no rules lets the kids (Brother 17yrs, Rachel 14yrs, and lil sister 12yrs) do what ever they want and just turns his head. No punishment for the other times she has taken off. But his excuse is "well she always comes back by Sunday and goes to school for the week. Now she is a very pretty girl (not just saying that cause she is my sister) and unfortunaly she is very well built already. She is short, skinny, (but not overly) and has "blossemed" so to speek. She is very out going and will talk to ANYONE. She leaves her phone at home or breaks it so she can not be tracked and makes sure not to tell her best friend where she is going because she knows that she always tells us what is going on. My dad again being the idiot he is, did not even go to the police untill Tuesday.
Also I just got word that my brother could be selling weed again. So far the youngest is untarnished, but that wont last for long unless she has a stronger will than the other two. I am loseing my fricken mind, I am so worried. I even posted on her facebook hoping that eather her or one of her friends will at least let me know she is alive.
Must think happy thoughts......Ummm.....uuhhh.... Chickens, Chickens, Chickens! **** TEENAGERS AND **** CRAPY PARENTS!
I'm so sorry - you must be out of your mind with worry. I hope she turns up soon. Is there anyway you could get some family to help out? Sounds like they all need some discipline.Found out that my little sister Rachel (14yrs) has been missing sense Friday the 11th.
Or if you're on this side, WSU also has the Avian Health and Food Safety Lab in Puyallup which does necropsies (http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/depts_waddl/avian.aspx).
I have seen that place in Puyallup - it's actually just about 20 minutes from my home and I pass it when I'm on my way to Del's. I've thought it's location may come in useful one day. Good to know.
I am really sorry to hear that. I was hoping you'd be able to correct their problem...Well it looks like my 2 silkie babies are going to have to be put down. We have tried to fix their foot problem but with now luck.
