I feel for you, my allergies are in my eyes I look like a blood shot and swollen, and itch like crazy....all i did was sleep today, I need to get medication soon as I feel it in my ears and throat, but not as bad as you, I hope you and the kids feel better. This is a very fast moving thread.

Hi Michelle, you're right very fast moving! Hard to keep us sometimes but it's also OK if you don't, just jump in any time! I'm pretty new here too. You should go to Costco and pick up Kirkland's Allertec; it's super cheap and a whole year supply, and I love how it works; honestly I think I might be alelrgic to chickens or their Pine bedding which is why I'm so bad this year. I'll get it all figured out thought and it won't be so bad forever. I can't give up this chicken habit though, LOVE it!

Well darn, guess I will miss dinner.. lol And being that I have no coop, any I can look at is good. ROFL! Do you think I could bring my two EE's over for you guys to look at?? People are saying Flash is a roo, and I am in a panic. With the bad luck we have had. OYE! The sooner I find out the better.. They travel rather well in a cat carrier. ROFL!

SB -- bring them by. I'm no expert by any means, but I can talk with you about certain things to look for on a EE that can help determine their gender. Often times EE's can be sex by color.

If someone is serious about wanting a weekend project, my DH and I would pay for gas and materials FO.SHIZZLE to get our coop (shed) relocated onto a (built-by-you) more permanent foundation in a good location, plus a new run attached. I could provide pics ahead of time too, for a better idea of the scope of the project.

I have had a seriously busy week and I'm so done. My allergies are out of control (they overtook my DOUBLE Zyrtec plus nasal spray) this week and I'm miserable, as are my kids. I think we need a day inside tomorrow, as we've been outside *too much* if there is such a thing and now we can't breathe. I hate allergies! I feel like death and need to sleep but just had coffee at 7pm and now I won't sleep all night

Oh my gosh, you guys talk all though the night! You guys make me feel very old for going to bed at 8:30pm. I am only 27 but sheesh by the time 7:30 rolls around I am ready to get all cozy in bed!
Well, I am getting all the kids off to school in a bit. Then feed all the animals and myslef, get my car packed up and then I have to be in Monroe by 1 at the fair ground to meet the family that I am traiding my buckling to for pullets. I think they are there setting up for the goat expo this weekend. I forgot about it and wanted to go, we'll see if I can make time for it.
Our suburban began to break down so we bought a 02 Denali, I love it but the suburban was my animal car. But DH sold it to our friend and wont let me put any kind of critters in the Denali. So I have to figure out how to fit everything in my lil four door Handa!?!?!?!
That is how I got my momma goat here Hanna Bean. She just climbed right into the back seat and off we went. I got some really weird looks on the freeway! It was funny, some people even took our picture.

Question for y'all: We have 13 pullets now...slight feeling there's another roo or two in there; we'll get rid of them if there are any. We are trying to make the run semi permanent and figuring out a size. Right now it's 6'x18', which is 108s/f. We will be using the run strictly as a temporary daily holding pen for the girls until my errands are done with for the day. They will free range our half acre backyard MOST of the time. Is that pen (which will be roofed and have food, water, roosts, etc in it) going to be OK size for my girls?

One more thing...do chickens wander and free-range when it's raining?

I'm not sure I saw an answer to your question about that run being enough room. 108s/f for a run should be enough. The most common suggestion you'll see on this site is 10s/f per bird. So you're pretty close to that ratio.

Well the deed is done. So once again I have no baby chicks in the house. But I got new hatching eggs. The Serama eggs some of them look like they have blood rings and some have detached air cells.

So we will see how many hatch. I am also putting in my Barred rock eggs to see if they are fertile. If they are I have Blue sex links.
