Thunder boomers here, and now it is POURING! I just got done planting straberries, looked up and saw the thunderhead, walked into the house and BOOM! Chickens all made a mad dash for the coop! Just a few minutes earlier the skies were blue, sun was out, and it was warm!

Same thIng happened here too!! Bizarre!

I made a really weird phone call this morning! This will show you guys how weird I really am....

I was on Craigslist this morning and found an add for 9 hens and a Roo for $10. Not $10 each, but ten for the hole flock and the last bag of food. I was trying really hard not to call and get them, they were just in Snohomish but I am at my limit untill I get a new coop built. So I cotinued to scan threw and found another add that said chickens needed ASAP. I sat and thought for a few minutes and then I called the number on the add for wanted chickens. A man answered and I explained that I was calling about his add, well he began laughing (which made me think it was a prank at first) he explained that he knew his wife had put up an add wanting them but did not realize that she had put his number on the add! I explaind to him that this was going to be a weird call and that I had found another add on CL just a few adds away from theirs in their area, the price and the phone number for it. LOL He thanked me and that was that.

I just figured that if I could not have them I could at least help out some one who could. I hope they were able to get them.

I would have bought chickens from the first add -- then called the second and told them I had a flock that was only 50 bucks and that I'd deliver them this very afternoon :)

I have a bunch of customers that used to buy from other people in the area (said they switched cause I was nicer and funny aww so sweet) and were very suprized to find white and blue eggs in the cartons. The ones they used to buy were only browns. I have a white leghorn, brown leghorn and a Blue Andilusian (sp?) I want more white egg layers and I am looking for black coper marans as well as EE's.

I have a white leghorn, a brown leghorn ,a California white and Three Austra whites. The Cal white is very friendly and will come in the house if we leave the door open. all of them lay as good as my brown girls

WOW we just lost power for a few minutes and it is raining and the wind is blowing like crazy

Call the first add, tell them you want the chickens and will be over ASAP!!! Then call the second add and say that you can even deliver. If the second add doesn't commit then you can be like 75 % of the craiglist no shows and just not show up. Not that I would do that.

Quote: I saw the great Liberace in the round way back when. He was absolutely great and what a showman. He teased the girls in the audience with all the rocks on his fingers and of course his ermine coat with a long train. This was back in Maryland at Pepper Hill. The cat could tickle the ivories.
Did you know that he was a spokesman for Baldwin Pianos and when he toured he had his own piano with him. The contract for hauling it, setting it up, etc was awarded to the various national moving companies. Mayflower had it for a while, then United and so on. It was always interesting to talk to the driver hauling it.

Quote: Half my flock will come in the house if I leave the door open, they have even hopped up on the counter to see what I was making for lunch. That was the first time they came in the house and the one that hopped up scared the ever living crud out of me, but DH must never find out they come in the house

. I only have two hens that take a two day break, some of them take one day off. But the leghorns and a few others have not taken a day off sense I got them. I just want as much color variety in my eggs as I can get.

I can't remember who it was on here that said somthing about a thunderstorm in their area today but who ever it was passed the storm off on us. But it must be more on you because about an hour ago I told DH we were going to have a storm. It began to sprinkle, I said " you ready for thunder?" he said not going to happen. Not even 2 min later the huge rumble came, wind was almost blowing trees over and I had to hurry and cook dinner as the lights were flickering. Luckily that was it, no power loss and now the clouds are rolling away and the sun is back out again.

Quote: Oh wow, I am a bit slow on things like that. My feed store (Bothel Feed Center I call mine

) was giving me a hard time yesterday because I told them that I was only selling my pullets for $10 each. They said "NO SARAH, you have to at least ask $15-20 like everyone elts does" I told them I don't wanna be like everyone elts and that I have a hard time finding chickens at a decent price so I figured I would make it easier on others.
