Okay, I am 20 pages behind...probably not gonna catch up. Baby's hatching all over the place. Coop finishing going strong. Got the brooder box 99% done. Got the babies put in it...I just need to make real lids/doors. It is 12' long. I will be putting dividers so that I can use it for multiple things....but right now it is a 12 foot brooder box with 3 bathces of babies who just all got introduced to one another. Just checked on them....all is well. I have so much to get done in there, but this was the first thing I really wanted to finish.

OH: If that made no sense: I just got back from 3 days of camping...archery shoot on the Loup. Parents came over for BBQ. Now I am sipping tequilla. So either I am too tired, the pain pill (hip hurts) is kicking in, or the tequilla is kicking in...you choose.

Ok, call me crazy, but I just set 13 more Silkie eggs and 8 LF Faverolles, along with 7 Bantam Favs for Tamara, that I brought home from CloverLeafFarms.

At least if all 7 of those hatch they will be going home with her.

But the rest, IF they all were to hatch, are mine. I have lost my mind!

I also brought home a started pair from CloverLeaf too. Yes I am addicted and I love chicken math!!!

Oh, did I mention that Tamara let me borrow her incubator? So I am having my first go, solo, at this hatching thing. 28 eggs, WISH ME LUCK!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial day weekend!
Thank you to all those that have or are still serving our country!

Oh - yay! More chickens! I cannot wait to see pics =)

Well that is just crazy. Who in their right mind would ever even consider hatching more chicks when they have brand new babies already in the brooder?

( I won't even tell you what I was just talking about doing today even with 14 babies singing and chirping immediately behind me.)

So you got your first pair of LF SF? You are going to love them!

Good luck on your first hatch at home! You know where to go for support and advice! Oh, and remember to have 4312 give you tips on the ritual hatching dance. It's pretty effective.

Robin: DH wants to know how to tell the turkles apart? is there some way to tell hens from toms...even as young as they are? Oh, how old are they again...I could go look. you told me.

One of the older 2 (still a baby though) is really acting like a tom. It likes to "fluff up" and strut around and does the "tom impression" (hilarious to watch). But would a young bird do this? Could a hen do this or this definitely a tom? It looks exactly like the tom you sold Julie, only much tinier as it is still so young.

Is there anyother way to tell? Any hints?

Anyone in Washington raise Seramas or silkie turken frizzles??
There are many....me included. I am still fairly new...but Red Rooster Farms and she has friends. I just had a HUGE coop built for my seramas. Just got the brooder box done...gone thing...just put 20 babies in it....8 more under a hen and on the way. I do have eggs if you are interested in hatching eggs..PM me. Or get ahold of Anna Ballard (Red Rooster Farms) she has beautiful birds.
