Hi all! I live near Spokane & I'm totally new to chicken raising. I have 7 chickens and am in the finishing stages of building the coop.
I impulse bought 4 chickens for my daughters for Easter & just went from there. We added 3 more chickens recently and I did that all wrong too, but everything is working out well, albeit a few minor bumps in the road.

Hi There!! i grew up in Spokane! Just moved to Omak, 8 years ago!.. Glad everything is working out for you now! We had a couple bumps ourselves. We are new to chickens as well.

I am LOL and had to share.

Earlier I was working and also browsing BYC (and other sites), while online. I had many tabs open in IE, going back and forth. Well all of a sudden I seen the time and flew out the door to a meeting.

I come home and my 17 yo daughter was acting kinda strange. Seemed she was avoiding me and when I tried to talk to her about something random she wouldn't look me in the eye. Finally I asked her what was wrong and she kinda hemmed and hawed and then says "I wasn't being nosey mom, but I seen what you were looking at online". I'm thinking WTH? So I come into my office and start to look at my computer. Well one of the tabs was BYC and it says :"Easter Egger Sexing tips and tricks"

OMGosh....I was cracking up so hard. I had tears down my face from laughing so hard. I told DH and he starts laughing. I went in and explained it to her (she has no interest in our chickens so no clue what an EE is) So she turns all red...but then starts laughing too.

I walk out of her room and say "love you boo" and she says "love you pervert".

Oh kids are great! =)

Oh so cute!

Hard to plant potatoes in the tires when the Skovies get in there & snarffle up the wormies & mess stuff all up.
I am gonna have to put wire over the tops of all the tater towers.
As the taters grow I add a slightly smaller tire & go up & up.
In this huge bottom tire was 2 skovie hens & plenty of room for 2 more !

Not positive as I have only herad this news second hand...but I hear pettec63 has had 2 goats kid, one had twins & one had triplets !!!!!!!!!

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How often does triplets happen in goats ??????????

Another drizzly icky day....................
Our lumber order goes out tomorrow & delivery may be next week Thursday, not sure.
Today we decided we'd go back to M&D's in Elma & make Dad 2 mini green houses over his raised beds of tomatoes, that are not happy in the rain.

And CR::::::::::: I really want to know where the massive swarm came from...there is NO houses out here....what is here is a few abandoned small farm houses.no sign of bees anywhere.
I wish we could capture this swarm.....but they are out in the deep woods, so probably never see them again.

Strong swarm though...somewhere close by there must be a very healthy & very large wild hive.

How far (typically) do swarms travel from their old home to a new home before the queen tires ?

Oh CL it happen's all the time I have girls that give us quads thats right 4 kids at one time ( well they come out one at a time

) So what a morning I woke to my husband telling me we had a baby goat outside

and it wasnt the one due to kid. So my great LGD was next to mom and baby keeping all the other animals away from them and also them up against the barn to keep them dry. I do love my Tapaul she is one great girl. So I have a Tog Nubain cross again. Have to ask a few people around here first but I need to get them a home. Oh the talk with my son also he said to let more of the girls go so guess thats what Im going to be doing. I love baby goats they are so darn sweet!
