So we get home from wonderful Cabo, and it seem's Murphy has decided to visit.
Sounds more like Murphy's mean ol' Mother in Law, Tamara. Hope things improve soon!

Now I just need a name for this handsome boy! I have no ideas for roo names :(
I think coming up with roo names is harder.
So don't laugh but I love the Twighlight movies and named my new Faverolle pair from Cloverleaf........Edward and Bella.

I had a Max last year.

So .. DW goes to get a pedicure today. When she gets home, she tells me that the folks who run the nail salon are very much interested in buying live duck. They would pay up to $15. I have no experience with ducks. Can someone tell me if that's a price I can make a small profit on? Can you point out a few species that would work? Obviously meat ducks :)

I'm taking DW out to Red Lobster for her birth-a-versary (which was in May)

Ooh, you have a good idea! Movie names! How about Strider, Aragorn, Viggo, Legolas, etc! Hmmm...now it's going to be hard to choose!

The fastest growing meat duck is the Pekin. A well bred Pekin will weigh 8 pounds live weight at 8 weeks of age. They have good feed conversion.

You will need to make sure that your customers will buy a white duck. If they are oriental, they might not. If not, then an Appleyard will be butcher size at 10 weeks and will be a lot leaner.

High quality breeding stock for ducks can be a bit pricey. I suspect that in order to make a profit, you would have to purchase good breeding stock and raise your own ducklings.

The baby ducks I saw this year at a few feed stores, range in price from $6.50 to $7.50. they should be cheaper over your way. Maybe you should get together with CR. there's lots of wild baby ducks out there right now
