Weather? What do you mean weather?
And no, that cow still hasn't calved (this is her sister, steaming gently in the rain) although I will be up and out the door early tomorrow, because she looks determined.
Yesterday I was wishing for an ATV; today a swamp boat might be more the thing.

My silkie chick that I hatched in the incubator is not doing very good. And I don't have any save a chick stuff. I knew I should have gotten some. My other two are doing great. The little serama is doing great.

so for your layers...the combo of sunflower kernals, scratch and rolled oats is enough? I have oyster shells separate. Is this their only food? Is it nutritionally balanced? Right now I am buying nutrena layer crumble. Or is this just an extra?

So far it is awesome !
I do add a bag of basic poultry (20%) or turkey starter (27%) every so often.
I just hate the brewery by-products that is the main ingredient in most layer feed...it is the used up grains from making beer.
It is spent, and could not have much nutrition...just bulk.
The whole grains are what the birds love !
Oats add alot of fiber & protein without the fat....and balance out the corn in the scratch.
All these 50# bags are MUCH less cost than a 50# bag of brewery by-product "layer feed"
I also use Broiler Max in their water, this covers any vitamins they need.
Broiler Max is vitamins & electrolytes & can be had at TwinCitiesPoultry.com and a envelope of it is just $4.95 (I think)
In spring I buy 4-6 bags and was using it for the meaties, but now I add 1/2 to 1/4 tsp of it to all my birds water, per gallon.

What an awful time to have a cold !
This weather has been horrible !
I have my entire garden covered........................cornballs out in their tractor have a heater going through a wafer thermometer keeping them warm
