Quote: Thanks CL. Insanity is more like it....LOL. They are good kids and have helped keep me young an I have learned lots from them. Even David - with all the tests he has given us. He has a lot of growing up to do and maturing to do...but I think he will make it. He has lots of potential.
My chooks wanna stay OUT until 10 PM....makes me wonder what happens with those chooks in Alaska ?????????????The ramp I like best has an asphalt roofing shingle on it. I still have to build a real ladder for the EEs because only Quinta will use the plain board I'm using now. Should have done it today but it will run me out of 2X2s and I'm thinking very seriously about how much it's actually necessary.
I'm having my usual June sleeping problems (it gets dark too late! it gets light too early!) and have gotten to the running into walls stage of sleep deprivation. I did manage to get a load of jeans washed and hung out, feed everything that needed fed, and put the sheep to work on the yard, but it's a good thing there's leftovers for dinner!
Ogress...............bears & elk. There are native Western Red Fox, mostly in forested areas/suburbs without too many coyotes (wooded + smaller than half-acre lots + small or nonexistant stormwater retention areas and vacant lots) but the big problem we've had (me and my neighboring cousin) is from Great Horned Owls. Hallerlake, who is in Seattle, has had trouble with Bald Eagles, CL and others have bobcats, and... argh, lost the name, up in North Bend, has bears.
But I think it's safe to say that the big three wild predators are Coyotes, Raccoons, and GHOs, with domestic dogs, feral cats, and humans being threats, too.
I have never seen a fox or porcupine here......until I saw both dead on the roadI've not seen foxes, but we have bobcats, bears, and eagles.
Once stapled to the ramp, I imagine if it gets poopy you can just unscrew the ramp & hose it off? That's a fantastic idea!!! I am going to do that!![]()

Well, if they're like me, they get cranky and clumsy and forget to turn the hose off, ever?
