About 2 miles east of the bunker, same elevation.Ogress is on top of the hill in North Bend.....just above where that fruit cake hid in his bunker after doing in his family..........and she has had constant issues with Yogi !!
And herds of elk right on the front porch, and deer on the back porch.
Very wild there.
maybe she can post some pics !
Speaking of Yogi, we all went for a walk Monday evening when Don came home from work since the weather was so nice. We were walking down a trail when Yogi started growling at us. We could not see Yogi, but Yogi saw us and he was close! A neighbor whose property is maybe 1/8 mi from the trail spotted him in her yard a couple days earlier and got a great photo which she posted on her FB.
I was lagging behind due to my leg, and I was gagging on my tongue which is currently swollen with thrush. I spit into the woods and heard 2 growls when I did so. I was not certain what it was, but bear was the first thing that popped into my mind. I talked loudly and hurried to catch up with everyone, but I did not run. Alex then stopped to pick up a stick to play with. He had not heard the growl, and I did not mention it, hoping it was just in my head. He paused at the side of the trail to examine the sticks and we heard 3 more growls but much closer this time. Alex started yelling "Bear!" and he ran toward us (we were only 15 feet in front of him). Don was trying to tell us it was something else, but we all walked very fast to get back to the road. We never saw the bear, but could hear something big crunching through the brush (thick with alder and giant Sword Ferns)
The photos of the elk and such are on an old computer which I have not copied over yet to this one, but if you click on "My Coop" and scroll down, you will see some of the wildlife we have here. Last year I posted photos (not on "My Coop" ) of the rangers out here with their bear dogs, coincidentally an hour after a bobcat got one of my hens. There were 2 dog teams, one on either side of my property tracking the bears and I think they caught 2. Before we knew the bears were right by the property, Alex was convinced it was a neighbor dog who got the hen, so he went out searching for them with his paintball gun. Not sure if you remember that post, it was about a year ago, but Alex went hunting in the woods for the dogs just outside our fence with the paintgun (where the bears were being tracked an hour or two later). He did not see the bears, the dogs, nor the bobcat, but he did find a lone male elk which he shot at!
