I'm looking to add true Ameraucana and Marans pullets/hens to my flock. Does anyone know the best place to look?

Well, been off for awhile...no way to get caught up. Posted a photo of my oldest and that he graduated (thank God). But new news...we have been having problems with him. Gave him an ultimatum and date line to follow and he needed to be moved out by this Saturday. DH was not sure beings that he (son) has no job and really no where to stay....well DS crossed the line.

He has been doing some drinking and has been drinking so much he blacks out. Well, this last time (yesterday) he was arrested for MIP and criminal tresspass. He is in jail right now. Goes before the judge in the morning. I had to do a lot of soul searching and crying. ..... I will go to see what the judge says. DH is REALLY on board now and son is not welcome here at the house (also he is 19 years old - grown man - get a job and get responsible). We will not bail him out and we will not pay his fine.

I could babble on and on and on...I just need to drink my tea and go to bed. I won't be on for a bit...too much stuff to worry about.

So sorry you are having to go through this. I personally know how hard this can be. It's called tough love and I am not sure if it is tougher on parents or kids..

It's tough to do the right thing sometimes when it is someone you love and care about. Hang in there! You made the right decision, your son did not.

My friend had a similar daughter whom she bailed out time after time, even taking out a second mortgage to cover all her court fees. Taught her girl that she need not be responsible for herself because mommy will sacrifice her own well being so she can do whatever she pleases. Now her DD is a 26 year old loser who even lost custody of her own child. She reminds me a lot of that gal in Florida who killed her baby only the state came in and took her baby away in time. I heard that the apple does not fall far from the tree, but in this case, the tree must have been at the top of a hill, because the bad apple rolled far away.

Have I told you all how I store my chickens' feed? I'm so excited! About a month ago I picked up 2 different sizes of THESE plastic storage vaults, the largest one and one of the smaller ones. They.are.awesome! The largest one (pricey, but worth it, it's airtight and watertight) I just found out today holds ***80***lbs (YES! 80 POUNDS!) of Scratch

Those look cool.  Since they are plastic, I'd recommend storing them in your garage.  A rat could chew a hole through those easily - and they'll go after the feed.  My compost bin is made from very thick plastic.  A rat chewed through it. 

Best feed storage is a dead large chest freezer.....
They seal shut, made of metal most times and normally free for the busted ones.

I'll be using a wood crate lined with tar paper and tin. My plan is to make 3 tip outs (like the really old flour tip outs if anyone remembers them) then a counter top and a upper shelves for meds and small buckets of stuff/treats But I have to get my already long list of projects down to a few before I add more to the list of "to do's"

Only thing it is not good protection from is Bears.... but they say if you padlock the lid close then bears would really have to work at it and well they like easy food.

When my little chest freezer dies this is what it will be used for.

Well this night crew is done....
Can't find any free fencing materials Need two 4 x 4 x 8' and two 4 x 4 x 6' and a few 2 x 4 x 8' to make a fence in my driveway.....
Was also hoping for find some extra 2x4's and 4x4's to rebuild my large girls coop.....
Oh and roofing materials.....

I have everything else... sigh

Thank you everyone. David goes before the judge this morning. I absolutely forgot that I went to school with a lady who works for the court systems. I am not sure what it is she does...but she told me she say David's name on the list. I told her I was fearful that he will get away with this just llike he has everything else. She told me that if he got on her caseload she would make sure he got a tough parole officer. He has never been in real trouble ....but he has been making a lot of bad decisions. She was telling me about an some device that judges are starting to make these kids use that registers alcohol. I hope they do it. He has destroyed so many of his opportunities witih this. I just hope and pray.

Okay, off to get ready for work...and off to court to watch the proceedings. Ag
