Hard to say, but after the conversation I had with a mom today - who called to chew me out for leaving David in jail - could be her. I just don't know...but he is drinking way too much.
If it is her, there are laws on providing alcohol to underage kids and she could get in serious trouble. What if that homeowner had shot him? It would be her fault!

Jess, that new run is stunning!!!
Can't wait to see what VF does for SadieSue, CFlaming and me too.

46th in an occasional series
Model-boat builders are drawn to the challenges that come with attention to detail.
Lee Stewart's 1/12th-scale Edwardian river launch, the Topaz, "is steam-powered just like the original." It is propane-fired, with a young captain at the helm (a doll ordered online) and an engine and boiler built in England.
The passengers have a tea set and an actual copy of a newspaper of the day, The Dispatch, in miniature, along with a box of cigars and a copy of "Gulliver's Travels."
There's also a sink and a loo.
Stewart's large hands barely fit in the space above the boiler where tiny knobs have to be turned as the boat is prepared for sailing. He is retired from the microcomputer business, so this passion is a perfect fit.
One of his models is of a Japanese whaling ship, and a fellow member of the Northwest R/C Ship Modelers has threatened to make a Greenpeace boat to attack it.
But while motoring the Topaz at South Lake Union Park in Seattle, the unintentional hazards of boating came into play when a sailboat with no rudder or radio controls clipped the stern, sending the aft cover, the British flag and a brass pole into the pond.
That ended the Topaz's day.

We bought this coop from a guy who makes them in Enumclaw. He does beautiful work.

Because we have a Light Brahma, we did have to make some changes. We cut the egg box doors much larger than they were. It also had 2 roost bars side by side, about 10" apart from each other. I took both of those down and put one back up - centered. The other, I made little feet for it and it will be attached, to the floor, on the side opposite the nesting boxes. We're also having to build a new ladder. None of the chickens can use the one that came with it - they slide down when they try to walk up - I think it may be too steep for them.

My 10-year-old did a great job filling nail/screw holes. It was nice to see him put some effort into it. I was able to make most of the changes without help, with exception of cutting the nest box doors larger. That was a 2 person job to get those cut straight. DH spray painted the primer coat on this evening.

Next, I'll be painting the interior with a bright white, exterior gloss. We're still debating the exterior color (green like the house, or barn red.) I thought we had settled on green, but it sounds like it may end up red. I have to attach hardware cloth, make a gate for below the egg box (to have access to the food container that will hang below it) figure out a way to weatherproof the side boxes, attach an automatic door (yay!), install roofing, and of coure, build a run. Lot-sa, lot-sa work left to do. But, I'm loving the progress.

Quote: we are trying to be supportive and that is why we left him in jail....but yet I had a mom call and tell me what a horrible person was to do this to David. I was so upset.

I want to thank everyone for their support...I really need it.
And WHO is she (or anyone else) to judge. NO ONE knows since they have not walked in your shoes. From what you have shared with us. It sounds to me like you are doing the right thing.

Again....thank you EVERYONE for your support. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. I am only surviving this because of the positive support we are receiving. I just kept saying through my head yesterday the list of people who agree with what we are doing. Mind you...the boy is 19...I don't have any kind of final say. And I can't "influence" the judge like this mom said I was doing....he makes his own decisions. I am just glad that this is how the judge is doing it.

Regarding the alcohol and where he is getting it...truly no clue. I don't know that this mom has bought it. But where there is a will there is a way..they wanted it..it could have been a number of different people. I even made a comment to the mom that he is not legal drinking age...this is not okay...18 and 19 year old's do NOT get to "social" drink....does she not get that there are laws for a reason - their friggin brains are still developing.

Anyway, I can't sleep. But I just wanted to thank all of you again and your support.
