Taking a moment to log on to share photos of our VelvettFog World Coop Tour 2012 so far! Dave and DW arrived shortly after 9 AM. After they backed the trailer into the driveway - (and BTW, what a beautiful trailer!) the three of us quickly got to work unloading all the pieces needed for the build. DH showed about about 30 minutes later to help unload and has been out there with Dave all day.

These folks are incredibly generous with their time and talent. I am truly amazed.

The carefully thought out pieces, some already partially assembled but all pre-cut. That man is a planner!

Getting organized with a little help from my DH and Gryffin the GR. (I'm not sure Gryffin was really helping at that point. He was more interested in having DH throw his toy for him.)

Leveling and Building progressing. Inspector Ondine critiques VF's work. I believe he's passed inspection.
Looking great!! Tell Dave we miss them both already! The girls are very happy and I used his suggestion to quarantine the 2 new girls I got today inside the chain link.

Willow Flats Poultry is nicer than Flaming Chickens-which is what I am considering.

You could have chickens with flames flying through the air. I love it. We thought of "Flats Chickens" but then I invisioned birds that were flat like they had run over. "Fowls on the Flats or FF or Fancy Flat Fowls...FFF (Ya, I see "F" bombs here). We ran through all kinds of names. I actually went on to my FB Serama club and asked for help.

UGH. Just had a horrible experience. We had the chickens in our garden and my nephew was out with them. Not sure how, but he dropped the gate on his fave chicken. My husband is with the chicken now, but pretty sure its dying.

My nephew is DEVASTATED. He started hitting himself and crying and screaming. It was his favorite chicken AND he feels responsible.

It is so sad, cuz this is his first loss.

There were a bunch of us out there and all were just tearing up at my poor nephews reaction.

Anyway, I am not sure what the plan is but just putting this out there and seeing if anyone has a 8-10 week old SLW pullet? Or know of someone or place to get one. I am not even sure if we are going that route, but would like to at least be prepared.

We are working outside all weekend so if anyone wants to PM me, that would be great.

EDITED: I wrote a follow up below, but maybe chicken was in shock...she is sitting up now. Waiting to see.
Maybe give her some time by herself...little bit of vitamin water and some kind of treat. She may be sore/hurt for some time, but maybe she will come out of it. Your poor nephew.

Quote: Oh yes...in fact the mom who chewed me out...her son is one of them. She says they are "just being kids" and we were kids once and did things like this....ummmm I never did...I know some who did do some drinking...but I did not. I have NEVER drank so much I blacked out or went into a stranger's house. And yes, oldest is 19...on Thursday - the day he went before the judge. Happy B-day. Also one of the other drinking buddies has an older brother - could be him (the older brother is an alcoholic). They were all partying together....my David got so drunk he was biligerent...his buddies left him passed out in the park. When they came back to check up on him he was gone.

LOL....Dave had a dog at my house too that kept him extra busy with the ball. Too funny. Oh, we should put together a "collector book" from like shutterfly for him of all the photos....Call it Dave's Coop Tour - love it. Very generous people.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I got the lumber delivered today and another stop at HD in anticipation for his next stop on the Western Washington builder megathon!

The last of the pics for now...until I paint the coop and run within the next few weeks.
Dave is a chicken whisperer...that bird won't let me near her and he just walked up to her making a clicking sound and she practically jumped him!
