Wow, that's no fun! I hope your week is better. I hate the hospital!

The Bantams are Silver penciled and silver laced cochins. They are my very favorite. They let David pet them. The afro-heads are Silkies, I think they are blue or mottled. The big girls are Black Copper Marans, and the rooster and his gal are Wheaten Marans. The thought is to bred him with black coppers to make Blue Copper Marans.

I started out with the vision of all BC Marans, but starting collecting chickens, and ended up with a chicken husband. He has decided to build a big stationary coop for the big girls.

The BC Marans are beautiful. Very, very beautiful birds. They shimmered. And that chocolate brown egg your husband showed me was gorgeous. Is he going to build a new coop? Different than the ones I saw? You have nice coops.

I tell you, after seeing your little silkies, I'd love to build a 2nd tiny coop and raise 3 of those, too. Your little coop for them didn't take up much space at all. But, I must wait at least until next year, or until DH recovers from the shock, expense and work of the first 3 chickens. I think next time around we'll definitely build the coop before getting the chickens. I think it would be fun to have some little chickens that the kids could show at the fair. Maybe we'll try and incubate some silkies next spring.

Yay! If you go over there, you'll love it. During the grand opening, we went back twice (they had 25 cent hamburgers and a free bounce house for the kids). We literally spent hours there... at least a couple of hours walking around the store, and a couple of hours (or more) watching the kids jump in the bounce house.

We dropped some cash though... lock your wallet far away from you to avoid temptation.

My husband and I both came home with Georgia Boot Romeos and he also got a second pair of boots for work. And, of course, chicken feed, a rake, two sprinklers...

I decided to order on Amazon. I love supporting local business, but I couldn't justify the gas! I wouldn't save much driving there for it...or spending an arm and a leg on unplanned purchases

Amazon has good deals, and if you have to get other items, you often get free shipping.

When I bought my large chicken feeder, I spent a little more than the local stores because Amazon had the saddle style nipple waterers that I wanted. I couldn't find the saddle style locally. By buying them together, I got free shipping. That more than made up for the difference of buying my feeder local for a couple of dollars less.

Yep. And I have Amazon Prime and get free 2-day shipping on everything

Oh man I didn't know they had opened. Bummer I missed the grand opening. I'll have to see if hubby isn't doing anything tomorrow on his day off & see if I can drag him along to that store, we need to get a few things at Sam's Club anyway.

Locals around here say they gotta be Mink, not ferrets, unless someone dumped a pair of ferrets out on our road...could happen!
Will try the extra smelly fishy cat food tonight & DH just got chicken livers to put in 2 X-Tra large rat traps he is wiring to a fence......I want these critters bad !
Mink sound more like it !!! I was going to ask where in the heck did Ferrets come from? unless someone dumped them. I want these critters BAD too and I didn't even lose any chickens. So sorry to hear this Robin

I think they opened the end of May... they were open for a couple of weeks before they had the Grand Opening, which was a couple weekends ago. I'm very happy to have a nice farm store so close by.
