By the skin on my teeth. I've been home for 30 minutes. I got all four jobs done, and didn't really bleed that much. Most important lesson learned:

Bring water-proof shoes to the west side of the state.

Now that I have learned how to make coops and runs, I can make my self some really cool ones!

LOL
He didn't mention that I almost took his hand off with my truck!

Glad you made it home Dave!

here and I am very sorry that you and some others have had not so good experiences being on this thread.

People please remember, The emotion attached to the written word can not be seen, as there is no face to hold the expression and no voice to hold the tones.
The most Innocent comment can come across as harsh words this way.

If it seems that someone is snapping at you, don't jump back snapping at them until you know how it was intended or it just makes you not looks so good. It is really amazing how a few words from one person weather it be miss interpreted words or a snapped come back can really rock the boat on such a great friendly forum.

Come on everyone run outside and hug a chicken

and lets get back to our crazy chicken stuff.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!!

You get to choose how you manage your flock. No should tell you what to do, we just give advice/guidance.
I have a pair of Favs that I put out in their own coop, sectioned off a part of the general run so that everyone can see each other.
I did this after 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. They were just getting too big for the crate I had them in. I took a risk too. But so far so good.
I know the breeder and her flock is very healthy.
But it was a risk, so don't think you are the only one! Lol!

Thanks. I know it was a risk. But I also know Dawn and Tamara keep healthy flocks. So yeah. there could be dormant things that will come out from the stress of moving, but if they do I knew the risk. I have meds on hand just in case of something treatable, and yes I'll be a bit sad if someone ends up dying, but for me it was an acceptable risk. So far so good though!

Agreed. I have had SO many issues either here or especially on Facebook with TONE. There is none in the written word and it sucks how badly some things can be mistaken. I don't have a lot of tact and I'm not an especially good writer (though at least I can spell fairly well, LOL) so if someone reads something that just doesn't sound right, or nice, I apologize in advance! LOL I really hate that there's no facial expressions or tone here, makes these long term convos hard sometimes.

Right now my kids are running around sword fighting and they just finished making themselves tubes of rolled up papers to be their looking glasses. Super funny how much they play and imagine when the darn TV is turned off! We are having to have a month of TV free time for them because they were so addicted. Imagine that, I turned it off for myself and went to bed on time last night; now I'm not like a walking zombie mommy this morning!

OK we're off to get ready to visit a friend today; she's got a new baby we get to snuggle

I made him a sweater; can't wait to see it on him!

That was my first thought. Mink They are loose here. Either way they are the same, BAD and need a lead injection.
Mink are also much bigger and far more agressive than Ferrets are.
We did not see them under the cabin last night.
There were no dig holes trying to escape either, so the buggers escaped sometime after we saw them last on the web cam at 8 AM yesterday.
Still a mystery why they were in there in the first place.
They can obviously squeeze through the 2x4 feild fencing we have (2" x 4" and 6 foot high)
Bummer, now I will always worry they will come back.
We baited the trap with a crab pot sock full of fish parts that we use for crabbin, and some whole herring.....and had the trap IN the pen, but no takers.
Today & the rest of eternity this trap will sit outside the pen waiting.

Lucky part of all of this is, I had the Crele Chantecler in this pen up until the day before the attack...and had just moved them and put OE pullets in the pen.
Still have no idea why they picked the pen so close to the cabin rather than the other pens farther away?

You made a sweater?! Wow. I admire you. Gotta admit my domestic skills are severely lacking!

A couple notes, but my quoting skills are also lacking, so I sure hope readers are up on the thread!! First, the picture of Seattle in the rain. AWESOME!!! I enjoy the rain, which is why I live here, but you've got to be able to laugh about it, too.

And as far as snappish answers, I've had a few, too. I just remind myself that nobody really knows me here, so I try not to be too offended. I threw out what I thought would be a reasonable question on the gardening section, and I got one that sounded a lot like "What are you, an idiot?" and another that really helped. After doing some more reading, I think the folks in the gardening section are a little more hard-core than I am, so maybe I'll stick with silly gardening questions for you Washingtonians.

You have to stop me when I start rambling like this! Anyway, you seem to be getting more friendly, supportive replies than snippy ones, so hopefully you'll be okay. It's nice to have a local connection!

Ain't it amazing how some people can be off for a day and lots of people notice and then others can just go away and nobody seems to notice or care!
I notice !
Wondering lately about Broodytood, and redReiner, nayone heard from them ?
Illia is missing also but I bet she is in the green house.
have not heard from RedRoosterfarm, or Annie'sMom lately either.
Summer brings everyone so much more work to do.

I just saw you're from Eatonville. The only thing I know about it is that Northwest Trek is there. Are you close to that? We have been twice and love it!
