I actually was thinking about this the other day and forgot to ask. The recent post about Gape Worms reminded me. Is there a recommended schedule for worming chickens? Like once a year, twice a year - anything like that?
I was wondering that myself the other day, so I searched in BYC, and came up with the average of every 6 months, starting with when they are 6 months old. Others do it in March and again in September. I don't know why they choose those two months, but it seemed to be the common theme.

Nope I don't work at Boeing. Those are Bantam Amaraucanas.

Is the white chicken sitting on them a silkie?

I worked at Boeing for 10 years - people would complain that they couldn't understand a word we said because everything was spoken in acronyms.

That's good to know. Thanks! I guess I'll plan for September. Mine will be 5 months then - but if there's a reason for March/Sept. I might as well jump in on that. Having set months will make it easier to remember.

If she had gapeworm, you'd be able to see them from what I heard. I don't think gapeworm is very common in Western WA
I use Eprinex in April and Ocober. Some birds missed the October dose and in Januarly the birds I missed started getting mites. I don't give them their first dose until they are about 6 months old. I have heard that there is no need to throw out the eggs when using Eprinex, but I use the eggs laid between Day 3 and Day 12 as dog food just in case. I figure it can't be very different from what I use to treat the dogs, and it would be at a much lower dose.

I see Mr. Deeve lurking here with me...are you recovered from the craziness or will that take more than 2 days?

I'm old enough that I don't recover as quickly as I used to. I'll be feeling the effects for another week or so :)

It's a good sore - the kind that lets you know you've accomplished something.
