...maybe I'll have me a warm fuzzy hat...for my mom.

Have you been to "Keep it simple" yet?
Leon Hussey and his son has a chicken...& duck feed store where Classic Nursery use to be, across from PCC on Avondale.
He also carries Irish eyes seeds...and huge tomato plants. (and chickens

I get my duck's feed from there now. Love it.

So, after all the hard work on the beautiful coop, the pullets don't like it. When the automatic door opened this morning, they looked terrified. Tonight, they didn't want to go back in. They were pushing hard to go back in the house to get to the garage.

I hope they get used to it. Granted, the garage was probably warmer.

Well, WE love it. I'll post a picture soon.
My juveniles are experiencing similar adjustment problems to their new dream home. They want to hide under the coop rather than go in and then if in, they wont go out. But they will get used to it and love it once they get the hang of it.

I have a silly group of 4 pullets that have decided now, if the people door to the coop is not open, they can't get inside or don't want to. There is a ladder by the people door to the coop and they have been sleeping on that for the last few nights all of a sudden. Last night they slept ontop of the fence that is by the coop. Not quiet sure what their problem is but oh well.

Good Morning to every one on this horribly down pooring rainy day! Go Washington weather, yeah! (Not so much)

Sadly on the topic of pets, we will be putting down our 2 yr old English Mastiff, Barricade, soon. Have not quite settled on a date yet but it is coming. Poor baby is a product of a back yard breeder. I thought I had done good finding a breeder, but it turns out they were good at fooling me. He is half the size he should be, which in his case is good because he has such bad knee problems that any bigger would have really been bad for him.

I WANT A KOI POND!!
wee.gif

Ive always toyed with the idea of digging a pond at the back of my property for a Koi pond. Or maybe buy a pool, and plop Kois in it.
The water table is way too high for grass in the back section of my backyard, and there is a creek there...spring fed. Bet the fish would love it there.
Minus the minks...and the heron...and my d u c k s.

TERIYAKI ON COCONUT RICE?????
droolin.gif

You are killing me. That's yummmmmmy.
Mom made some "hainan chicken rice" last week when her energy level was better.
We bought a free range chicken from chinatown, and some fresh "US" ginger, and some hot house baby cukes.
We boiled the whole chicken till it was COOKED, then dunked it in ice cold water.
Chopped it up and placed it in a BIG platter on top of some sliced cukes.
Then we put about 2 cups of sauce on top of the whole thing.
(soy sauce, sesame oil chicken stock and a teeny touch of raw honey)
We saved the chicken stock and used it to ciik the rice. Also added a tad bit of sesame oil adn salt to the cooking rice.
It was YUM.
With all the chicken you have, you just got to try it. ( ...sorry, chickens.)

Nope, not near willows, but that is interesting.
No wonder I don't see that many families with ducks in these woods.
