Is this a little calico ?

Question: My chickens don't seem to drink enough water. They have clean water every day but they've never drank a lot. Between the 10 of them right now they drink about a quart, maybe a little more, per day! That doesn't seem right :( They act normal and their poops are normal now (yay! after the bleach solution :)))) but their water intake is scant. Could they be getting water from the plants they eat? I have never seen them drink from the creek either...but it's drying up soon anyway.

well kittens bathed... they were none too happy bout it.. right now these little guys are outdoors and when we finally move they go with us and will become fixed indoor little house kitties.

This is Yoda... mom is a purebred persian dad is 1/4 scottish fold 3/4 alley cat.

this is Scar... same parents as Yoda. but he reminded me of character from Lion King so that's how he got his name...

toes trimmed, faces cleaned and ears cleaned now they look and smell much better... no more cow poop smell.
The little tortoise shell/ calico is a female. The one you named scar

No males are that color.
And Yoda is most likely a male.

I'm not sure if the posting will stay there, but I added a comment.

Hopefully, it is positive enough yet states the truth enough that they won't feel they can remove it.
And, just in case it is removed, this is what I posted:

Hi,

I would like to commend you on this information about certain farm practices. Some of them are really shocking and would make any decent person shudder. However, not ALL chicken farmers use these methods.

I gave up buying meat and eggs when we decided to raise our own. I wish I could post a picture showing the really nice pasture, pond and landscaping our chickens enjoy. We have almost a 1/2 acre pasture for five hens currently.

They have a coop, which is never locked or shut. The entire pasture has a no-climb fence and electric hot-wires to prevent foxes, coons and other predators from harming my girls. They truly free range, but we also give them supplements daily, with treats such as lettuce, fruits and fresh vegetables.

I have a vet bill on one of my girls of almost $200 when she was sick. She had to be euthanized, but she gave her life so that all the others were able to be treated and saved.

Not all of us are monsters, although I do believe there are those out there who don’t practice humane methods.

Luckily, laws are changing the way chickens must be raised, and must be marketed honestly.
Whenever I go to a store and see people buying “free-range”, I always want to tell them the truth about what they are buying. Rarely are they from humanely raised birds. I think perhaps the only truly humanely raised eggs are ones you would get from a small farmer like myself, where you can go and see how they are raised.

I don’t allow visitors “inside” the pasture, because I don’t want anyone tracking in pathogens that might be on their shoes. But I have no objection to anyone seeing my farming practices. I am proud of the way my birds are housed and treated.

Kathy
I should have added that the people on BYC are of the same kind as me. That we all strive to do the very best for our birds, because in the long run, it affects us all. I'll see if the comment stays.
Did you see the number post that was? 214

Quote: Hey girlie...I'm good, just busy busy, you know. ;) In fact, I have to leave for work in about 20 minutes, so just hopping on to TRY to play a little BYC catch-up. I've sold a ton of birds in the last 2 weeks, and I still feel like I'm up to my neck in feathers and empty waterers. Oh well. :) Breeding projects are coming along nicely too.
That's about it for me...working and watering chickens...

My yard still stinks a little, but it's actually not too bad, I watered down the whole area where the skunk was today, to try to get more of the carpet powder washed away, and once it was wet I couldn't smell it at all...we'll have to see what it's like tomorrow.
And no, you're right, I haven't posted much...I tend not to this time of year because of all the garden talk...just not my thing. I skim through and find things from time to time to comment on. :) Talk to ya later! Oh...I need some updated pics of them Voltron babies!!!

oh they are both definately males... Scar's coloring when dry is total grey. when he is wet it looks brown etc. Who knows. .. I just think they are pretty dang cute... either way they both are getting fixed when they are old enough. lol...their mama is a grey white colored persian. Dad is Yellow white cream colored.

I took all the chicken nuggets outside and put them in a pen so I could clean their cage. They loved scratching around in the grass.. now all back in the house and singing like crazy..

better pic of scar..he didn't want to hold still so this is him dryed off... lol

So, you remember the other day when I posted about the 18'x7' three door building that I found on craigslist that I wanted and could not get?
Well I still don't get it

BUT..... I was just informed that there is a 10'x14' Latte stand that is available to me for FREE!

I will find out tomorrow.
The only things I wlill have to do is put wire mesh on the windows, cut a chicken door, put up nest boxes and the roosts! Oh boy so I have my fingers crossed.
