True, and seriously, it is right here in the book.
If those 2 do not work out, let me know PM, as there is breeders for all breeds, all over the country.
I am only sending you 2 that are closest.
There is more in ID & CO, and......all over.

reminds me Dee....where are you ?
With gratitude. Sensible Chickielady.

Got done a little while ago vaccinating chicks for Marecks with cflaming her DD, and SadieSue. Did 44 birds in just under an hour. It was great having all the helping hands to get it done fast. And it was way more fun than doing it alone! Thanks ladies!
Carol, you left your syringes here. I will get them back to you! I can drop them by your place and see your coops AND your horses!! We will probably need them next spring at least, right?

Oh, and I got rid of two of my white silkies, but somehow I ended up only being down one. I can't figure out thos chicken math!
Thanks for the Silkie Dana! He( I am pretty sure now too) is doing fine. Very mellow! Oh and I am going to have a good dinner tonight with some good wine to go with it!
We did sort of a trade, instead of me just pawning 2 of mine off onto her! Lol!

Ive always used cedar shavings in the coop, dusted with DE and put apple cider vinegar in the water. They arent confined to a small space at all and free range all day.
Its suppose to all be a natural way of preventing.
Im trying to do everything naturally and organic and we try to do everything chemical free But Im at a loss here. Ive done everything I thought would avoid it and here I have lice.

Anything I missed Id like to know about though!

I have poultry dust and 50 pounds of DE mixed in.

for some birds i can catch i now put flea/tick dog drops on my birds and it REALLY WORKS. i added an extra dose a few days after the first kill and for 3 months now those specific birds are still lice free and not miserable compared to their buddies.

I went to costco and bought a pack of large dog and put 3 "drops" on the bird. one under the belly near the vent, one on the back of the neck and one on the saddle.
Warning! after the first drop the lice start running and will get on you as they try to escape. this stuff killed the eggs too.

I gave up on the "natural" options and just apply to the new birds i get and to chicks that are moved out of the brooder to keep them lice free. i just have too many birds to actually do this to them all but i snag a few every now and then and apply some. i always dose the broodys a lot because they sit in different nest boxes and spread the lice around.

all birds i applied this stuff to is alive and doing well. just make sure to buy the dog one, the cat one is formulated a lot differently.

Quote: I have gotten a coop that I had to do a lot of finish work on. So that doesn't bother me. I am not ready for another coop as of yet. I have a tractor that my silkies will go into when they are ready. But I may need one next spring! I will PM you!

If you can get to a feed store & buy a bottle of WAZINE.......and treat your entire flock.
Then next week do Eprinex, a week after do the Eprinex again.
Repeat in the fall before winter sets in so the birds do not have a parasite load over the winter.

i have never wormed my flock and the one time i had a sick bird taken to the vet the fecal tests were clean

in the fall the birds get the rotten pumpkin and squash. i cut them in half with a shoval and the seeds have a natural worming agent in them

i figure all my birds are clean right now because i gave them a few lugs of cherries every few days (when they eat all the previous cherries)
birds get the runs just like humans from too many cherries, course i wasn't expecting the black poo.... but pretty sure they are spoiled birds and have clean guts now. :p

this is probably the only flock given cherries to their hearts content.

Quote: I have all new girls since the last of my "old" girls passed on. So I may have to try the pumkin again. My old girls turned their beaks up at it.
And I will say that fruit makes my girls have the runs too. Mine get it from watermelon.
How do you serve the cherries? Cut up or whole?
