OK thanks you two. She's so social and loves to be part of her girls' action, I think it'd really kill her if I caged her and brought her in the house away from them. I will leave her for now and make sure to get out there by 7am to wake her and re-evaluate her in the house.

For Dawn. Here's Mr. Ricky. He's just too cute!!

My two new sweeties, who are almost ready to come out of the hutch! The big girls didn't hurt them today and they actually challenged back!

The birdies enjoying their awesome run during the rain; they are chowing down like crazy on the new feed! Glad we switched :)

Anyone get any good chicken magazines? DH just got me a Backyard Poultry subscription! It just came as a surprise today

Wondering if there are more that have good information too?

OK so I'm freaking out. I was with the birds ALL day long and nothing seemed wrong and then I went to talk to a neighbor for 15 minutes and DH called me back home to say Lay-a was limping. That sounds like an injury right? And not a sudden onset of Marek's or something else potentially life threatening? I might die if this bird is really sick, she's one of my favorites and has finally started letting me pick her up sometimes! She's one of the EEs I talked about who don't like to be touched much.
Ok first off PLEASE know that I don't intend this to be mean! I have noticed from your posts that you seem to be very nervous about yer chooks. Take a couple deep breaths step back a bit and let em be chickens. You seem to be worrying WAY too much!
But see I have a little different outlook which MANY may not agree with.

I don't take it wrong :) I do worry about them because I want them to be healthy and happy. They are our pets who have a job to give us eggs. Also, I'm a newbie so I'm just asking lots of questions because it seems I get great and knowledgeable responses here. Like...calm down

Trust me, I'm fine, I just hope she doesn't have something wrong with her permanently. I want to take good care of them beause of the time and money that has already gone into these 14 weekers who I raised from day 2 until now. They're my babies!

As for the rest of the flock, everyone seems to be normalizing with the new feed and 2 new members. And I don't plan to get more. Though Rainwolf's offer for the bantam Ams is very tempting...I just don't think I want to stress the flock again. I got 2 newbies 2.5 weeks ago, and 2 newbies again 3 days ago. Probably a bit much for them all to deal with huh? Thanks for the reply. Don't worry I'm not hyperventilating, running around pulling hair, or constantly checking on them. I just like to know all there is to know about them

Thanks! If it helps you guys to know this, I always consult my books first, which may or may not be a good thing, only time will tell. I have about 10 chicken books!

Whew, finally caught up with pages and pages of posts! Love all the photos of chickens, ducks, turkeys, nice runs and coops, etc. Hope everyone is doing well.

Judges4, so sorry to hear of all the awful luck you've been having with eggs, chicks and bator delivery.

SadieSue very kindly enabled loaned me her incubator and I hatched out 11 Catdance Silkie chicks. They are adorable, and so friendly. Even in the bator they were coming up to the window when we came by. I'm hoping to get a couple nice girls for Zonie.
