Well, some time ago, I posted some pics of our grow out pens, and some of you asked if I had plans. So I mentioned it to himself, and being who he is, he made a humongous document, and a slide show describing how he dunnit.

Here's the link for anyone who's interested (it's a downloadable document).

I tried to read it but I almost puked looking at the photos. That is the most digusting thing I have seen. I don't know if I can finish my coffeee - no wait - I can.

I sent it to my sister, and she read the link & said no way would she even open that.
She is a real wouse....my exact opposite.

I told her I was shipping her a "prize" (in this family that means a gift for no reason) and she is now sceptical that I am in fact sending her either 1) weird pee eggs....or

2) something that is alive

I did not tell her what the prize is, but I will tell you guys...it is one of Dawn's lotion bar roll ups that are absolutely fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!

We found on line a plastics manufacturer that sells bulk these large 1 OZ sized chap-stick like containers, so dawn did the lotion in then,.......AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got one for me, Mom & skeptic sissy sister.
I should send her something weird too...just to remind her I yam what I yam........she calls me (her worst cuss word name) A WIERDO......
Is that like so grade school ?????????????? WIERDO ???????????? WIERDO ????????????????

I am soooo skipping that link! It just sounds gross!

I found it more interesting than gross, actually......fascinates me how other cultures eat & their beliefs....it is not like they are eating babies (balut) , that I cannot deal with, still I would not eat pee eggs either..just sayin'

You sure can tell when it is nice weather cuz the WA peeps are way down on the Where am I? page............

So I weed wacked up the hill (about 40-45 degree hill) for about 50 yeards and then tuckered out...4 foot tall grass, HOT up there.
Tomorrow I will do more.
hard on this old lady !!
I should hire the Mexican firneds out here, they work really good and heat never stops them...man the heat kills me.

I thought I'd been grabbed by aliens and transported someplace else.
It's too hot.
I'm melting.
My eyes hurt.
I'm getting sunburned.
I'm all sweaty.
I lost my sunglasses.

Anyone got any cheese? Lol!

Russ- Break over back outside, gotta mow the backyard.

I'll keep that in mind if I decide to buy and incubator! Or if one of my girls goes broody upon laying eggs.

Hey...when do they go broody? Any time, or much more likely in the spring?? Just wondering when I can expect to allow a mama to hatch her own clutch :)
What you want to do if you want to induce broodiness (no guarantee it will happen) is have a dark quiet coop.....very CALM.......and get a handful of eggs & mark a big X on them in a certain dark corner...this lets you know the fresh laid eggs from the trap eggs.
Maybe, a hen will come along & say "WOW look at those lovely eggs !"
And she may settle right down into broodiness.
Reach under her daily & pull out any fresh laid eggs (with no X) to eat.
Hens will often get together in what I call "a village" situation, where they all come in & lay their egg WITH the broody hen, and thus a broody hen that is not laying herself, will have more & more eggs daily......another reason to collect eggs several times a day.
