You want them to get use to melon so they will eat the pumpkins coming up.
Try to obtain pumpkins if you don't grow them. Seeds are natural anti parasite medicine.

I'm trying to grow pumpkins, but they're doing the same exact thing as last year. They're blooming, then the flowers fall off leaving a blank stem. I bought new seeds this year thinking maybe it was because I was using old seeds. Last year all squash related plants were a bust. Two years ago, I had incredible squash plants and ended up with more than we could consume. I don't know what changed - other than I didn't plant as many varieties as I had that year I had too much. This year, because I was so busy with the chickens, I only planted pumpkins, no squash.

I must have crazy chickens too because they won't eat watermelon or strawberries! Renee, it must be those darn Reber Ranch crazy chicks!

For chicks who have never been handled much before, Thelma and Louise are sure friendly and sweet! They fly up to my shoulder when I open the top of their rabbit hutch, so cute! I missed babies! Poor DH, he didn't mind I got them; all he asked was "Does this mean any more work on my part?" and when I said NO he was perfectly OK with it!

Here's one trying to eat my earring; they were rubbing their faces on mine and trying to tuck under my chin like a wing! Awwww...

We are having the coop and run painted this weekend, woohoo!! Getting paint tomorrow :) Don't know what color yet but I don't care much so I'm sure it'll be easy to walk in and choose.

Thanks! They're EEs, and apparently only 6 weeks old. Wished they were older. At least it's hot out lately, they had their first day/night without heat when I brought them home yesterday! They seem just fine today though :)

Would anyone like to come help me and Renee with the chicken run on Thursday? We're going to predator proof it before my painter comes this weekend. Just odd jobs. I need someone with a Sawzall to help me rip some holes in the coop as well...not enough ventilation at this point. Anyone up for it??
