FYI We also have a Serama Rooster that lives in our house . Pierre also sets on the couch with DW and eats with her. He also travels with us. Like this past weekend we went to the Dunes and Pierre went with us. Feel free to refer to me.
Does he get scared? My chickens are nervous of everything!!

Just curious... does he crow and wake you up early in the morning? And, where does he sleep? In a cage or something? It would freak me out to think there was a chicken able to roam the house at night while I was asleep.

Me too! I would think he'd wake up and peck my lips in the morning or something really awful!

Sneaking over from Idaho.... Shhhhh! Just wanted to see if anyone in the Spokane areas has an incubator for sale with an auto turn. If so, drop me a pm with what you have an a price. I have a pretty low budget, but I thought I'd try!

Welcome to the Washington thread! Glad to "meet" you. I have lots of extended family who live in Idaho. My mom grew up there - near Boise.

This past weekend I ripped out a couple of beds. I have to rip out a 3rd, too. A lot of my plants bolted while we were at Lake Chelan. Went out today... my purple potato plants look like they're dying. They haven't even flowered. Not exactly sure what happened. I tried something new this year with the potatoes... instead of covering them with soil, I covered them with straw. They must not like that. It's sad to have bare earth this far in the season.

SweetSilver, your nest boxes looks nice. Your coop has a timeless and classic look to it. It looks like what I imagine a perfect farm to look like.
Don't give up on the potatoes. I have grown them in garbage cans with soil at the bottom and then I load them with straw so they are not too heavy to move. Even if it looks like the plants died early with no bloom, I dump the garbage cans out in the fall on my expired garden beds, and I usually find potatoes.

I did not grow any potatoes this year. I have a lot of extra tomato plants (green grape, snow white and red cherry), plus squash, zucchini and cucmber in the green house, only nothing is labeled so I can't tell what is what.

I'm looking to plant garlic and other fall crops. Anyone have any recommendations?

I agree with your comment for Sweet Silver - I thought it was a photo from a magazine!
