I think a lot of them may have no clue how to go about doing it, or aren't aware they can buy seeds with food stamps, or rely on packaged foodstuffs. I bet you would be doing a huge service if you offered to hold a workshop through the food bank, and showed these folks how to convert their yards into food producing space. It's probably never occurred to them, because they don't think about growing or raising their own.It irritates me to no end when I see droves of people lined up at the food bank ( I have donated to the Food Bank for decades) and yet Not one of them will go out in their LARGE yards and plant a garden !!!!!!!!!!! I think we are one of 3 gardens within a 5 mile radius.
It is sad that so many people rely on someone else to feed them !!!!!!!!!!!!And food seeds can be purchased with food stamps...so their really is little excuse to not grow a garden.![]()
Momma Blue Copper Marans has hatched her eggs...out of 5, 4 hatched, 1 was no good.
She is doing great with her babies.
They hatched Saturday and are outside right now...enjoying the sun.

I'm glad I read this twice (I read too fast sometimes) - I thought you said your HUSBAND died and you ignored it as long as you could . . . . . . .!
I killed a snake for practice. I wax my own eyebrows, I can do anything!
Want, want, want!
CL, since you saved my life aren't we related or something like that?![]()
(She told me not to train my Sweat Meat squash up the walls and ceilings of my greenhouse. If I hadn't been killed by a huge squash falling directly on my head I'm sure the vines and fruits would have pulled the entire greenhouse down on top of me. DH would have searched for days. . . )
Oh man! That should read SWEET MEAT squash. The heat is getting to me (gasp)!
Soooo cute! Love the pics!
