My little visitor to the butterfly bush right outside my kitchen window. Not sure it is the same one but I have seen a tiny frog like this for the last 3 weeks. It is setting on 1/2" pvc and that is a normal ink pen.

Very cute. Mine is living on the hose hanger in the front yard. There was one in the back yard, DH had to distract the nasty little dogs. The nasty little dogs wanted to play with it.

Here are the girls playing around on the 2nd coop. That's Rhodie walking around on the top, Drama looking at my daughter, and Caunnie is hiding on the back wall. This is the coop my youngest son and I started building this last week while my oldest son was at camp and my daughter was at Girl Scout Day Camp. We have a lot of work left to do on it, and on the attached run. Keeping an easily distracted 7-year-old boy on task isn't easy - but I made him stick with it and help build this thing. Every few minutes he'd pop off with "Can I have a break?" Silly little boy.

DH said we "over-built" it. I said the wood was free, so we could afford to over-build it.

This is also the coop he thinks would make a great dog house (oh, no it won't!), LOL!

Great coop. I think that I could get to be a bit envious. lol It would make a great house for a couple of goats also.

And I love the price, you are very talented.

We already framed the walls on the left~~~~~~~~~they are laying down and Einstein is PO'd about yet another Chipmunk!!!!!

So he is after it with the nail gun~~~~~~~~~~~







The little booger was running all over our framing !!!!! So cute !!

I have met the leader of the opposition. I am certain he is mocking you and Gary. Chipmunks are organized, and very evil.

It's looking good. I wish we could managed to help you with the beams and such. But I am fairly sure that my DH is going to be gone most of the month of August.

Given how high the water table is in my backyard, I think it could happen.

I threaten the hawks with the huge net I have. I love that thing. No way I could catch the chickens when they don't want caught without it. Most have gotten smart and take off to the run if I start walking towards them with it in hand. My rooster gets as far away from me as he can and does his little "watch out she's got the dang net" sound. He's usually on the receiving end of it for some cuddle time. He hates cuddling.

Chickielady - the house is coming along nicely! Are you guys building it yourself?

I grew up in a home my step-dad and brother built. My brother started working on it at the age of 12. I didn't have to do any actual building other than help hold wood, but I had to do finish work (taping, sanding, that sort of thing).

When I was a teenager, my folks remodeled a house to give both of my grandmothers an apartment in the daylight basement. My job was painting. I am still in charge of painting around here. DH hates even the thought of using a paint brush. Also if the job was nasty or yucky, it would be my job.

Hi all. Got a friend here tonight fixing a few things on the coop and prepping it to paint this week. He takes a long time but is cheap and does great work. Can't wait to take pics of it when it's all done!

So...Ricky is becoming a huge nuisance! I know, I know, ROOSTER! Duh, but not only is he crowing...loudly. But he's doing it from 5:25am for many, many minutes on end; he'll stop for a minute and start up again. Seriously, he gets up, stands outside the coop, and crows at the coop until every last bird is up and out. It's ridiculous. So, I have questions. Will he get louder? Will he ever crow LESS than he does now, like once he gets all this out of his system? Or is he always going to be up with the sun and crow without ceasing all morning. I have very close neighbors and I'd rather keep the peace with them even if roosters are legal, than keep Ricky unfortunately. He's such a great little boy, but I'm at my wits end and DH said NO MORE early crowing or Ricky would be dinner. Ugh. Help! Tonight I have him in a cat crate, in the coop, with a towel over it to prevent light from getting in, but I'm worried he might not get enough air at night? I need everyone's opinions on how to keep him, if I can.

My experience with roosters is that he will not get any less annoying. Every rooster has their own crow, and it doesn't change as far as I know. He will always crow at daybreak. Some roos will crow even at night, and some will crow off and on all day long.

Goats can live in something that small? I always imagined they'd have to have a huge place.

if you have a garage or shed that will help dead the noise you should do as I do.... every night after dark I close up the coops, grab the boys and toss em into a dog crate. then I put them in a area that will not allow the noise to get loud enough to bother neighbors. every morning after 9:30am I let the boys out..... Works good.
