If its a girl (and its looking more and more like one) I am keeping her. She turned out to be a solid black color with that green that blacks get. And a little puff of feathers on the top of her head. But she got her mothers skittishness. I was amazed that she turned black as father is a blue and mom is a red EE.

Blue is black with a modifier and I think black covers most other colors.

I have a buffish colored one from a buff silkie over a hatchery easter egger hen in common EE color. She's the most skittish bird I have and I'm really thinking about getting rid of her. She doesn't fit in well with anyone else. She tries to bully the silkies and is low on the EE pecking order. She's 10 months old and lays a medium green egg.

EE's are skittish so it doesn't really surprise me.

You don't need to bury it. Just make an apron of it instead. Animals are too stupid to back up and dig where it ends, instead they'll try to dig at the corner where the hardware cloth bends at the ground and won't get far ;) If you need a pic, let me know I can take one of my run.

That was 2 years ago, and since the grass has grown up through it and I can run right over it with the DR wacker.

Well, today I am supposed to be researching the PECK water system, used in place of traditional copper plumbing.
Anyone have it ?
If so, please e-mail me & tell me how you like it.
We have seen it installed in a few homes years ago...and decided next time (which is now) to give it a try.
Takes far less time to install, and costs far less than copper.
I am also not a fan of copper water pipes....too much copper in the water.
I also am not a fan of PVC for water pipes, so the PECK system tubing is supposed to be safe from leaching chemicals.
Now, to learn what is needed for it..................

Quote: Yes, mine is exactly like that only with hardware cloth. The grass has covered most of it, except the pointy ends...I can't get those to stay down!

Chickens and people alike are tripping on them all the time. But I think that will be a non issue once we put pavers all the way around the chicken coop and run.

Being a hot weekend, we decided to go boating. First time this year. So, we went out, put down some crab pots went out a bit, and then had some lunch. We went back a couple of times to check the pots, the third time, we lost one. A brand new one too. (It was a replacement for the last "brand new one" himself lost last time he went crabbing with a friend).

Well, we came back, and just before we got into the channel, the motor dies. EVERYTHING! All the electrics, so even the radio didn't work.

This is himself and the dog - just waiting for help!

So, we called 911, but they said harbor patrol wasn't working that day! They were going to send the coast guard to tow us in. But eventually, a nice bunch of folks showed up and towed us, so we called off the coast guard.

I'm glad we took our phones with us. That being said, they were new phones (2 days old) and I wasn't familiar with them. They are Androids, and unlike my 14 year old "flip" phone, they have all these gadgets, and it took me at least 10 minutes to figure out how to make a call, then the screen was so hard to read because of the brightness of the day, and finally, I couldn't figure out how to end the call, so finally just turned the darned thing off!

What a day!

(Totally sunburned!)
