Quote: IN MY OPINION you are making the heat thing WAY too difficult! See I hang a heat lamp and plug it into a dimmer that I made. I just watch the chicks. if they are all under the light don't turn it down.If they are off away from the light I turn it down a bit. It ain't rocket science!
And NOT to minimize the texting while driving but it is scarry to know that it is NOT against the law to do things like apply make-up, read, eat and a few others as well steer with your knees because you are doing other less than safe things with your hands, like puttying on face paint.Russ. What is even more disturbing is the car manfactures are placing more and more tech apps along with the internet in cars.
Now some would say but one looks there anyways to change a radio station or turn on the heat etc.
And I would say correct but one is missing the point.
That is a glance and the act is done.
These new cars have screens where you can actually surf the net. It's insane this is allowed.
The average person has no discipline to handle that.
The auto makers don't care as they are continuing to try to one up each other with new technology.
If they had any integrity that technology would only be able to be looked at when the vehicle was in park. Simple solution.
But who cares about lives being lost when there is $$$$$$$$$$$$ to be gained is their MO.
I was rear ended 3 months ago and I'm still messed up.
The more I think about it being at a stop sign when struck the more I think the driver was probably on the phone and that explains why I was hit so hard.
That explanation has been suggested to me by my Doctor as well as other people.
Check on Mudbay. I know there's one in Federal Way, but call ahead.I live in Normandy Park and need to get some grower feed I want to keep it organic and get it locally there is a feed store in burien but they are not sure what brand they carry it is just a bulk bag and so I am hoping I could get some feed back on where you feel people are the most helpfull and a great local comapany.
Thank you
That really sucks. At least it was nice weather. I am betting a problem in the IGN switch or the main battery disconnect! Be interested to hear.Being a hot weekend, we decided to go boating. First time this year. So, we went out, put down some crab pots went out a bit, and then had some lunch. We went back a couple of times to check the pots, the third time, we lost one. A brand new one too. (It was a replacement for the last "brand new one" himself lost last time he went crabbing with a friend).
Well, we came back, and just before we got into the channel, the motor dies. EVERYTHING! All the electrics, so even the radio didn't work.
This is himself and the dog - just waiting for help!
So, we called 911, but they said harbor patrol wasn't working that day! They were going to send the coast guard to tow us in. But eventually, a nice bunch of folks showed up and towed us, so we called off the coast guard.
I'm glad we took our phones with us. That being said, they were new phones (2 days old) and I wasn't familiar with them. They are Androids, and unlike my 14 year old "flip" phone, they have all these gadgets, and it took me at least 10 minutes to figure out how to make a call, then the screen was so hard to read because of the brightness of the day, and finally, I couldn't figure out how to end the call, so finally just turned the darned thing off!
What a day!
(Totally sunburned!)
Make it bigger. Get more chickenz!!!If you could build, add or redesign something in a coop. What would you add or change??? You know the stuff that after you had your chickens in there you thought Hmmm I should have done this. Or something that you have seen that works really well![]()

I was reading a thread about what to put in nesting boxes. We shred all our personal paperwork so I'm planning on using it in the nesting boxes.
Chicks will let you know if they are hot or cold. One time my friends heat lamp burnt out at night, and their chirps woke her up. If they are panting, and away from the heatlamp, pull your heatlamp farther away. I turn off my lamp all day as long as it's warm, and my chicks are three weeks, and one week old. According to the #s, my chicks aren't at 75 degrees, but they are out running in the grass right now. If you don't keep them hot, they will feather earlier.Watch outside low temperatures. They drop by 5° each week. At 4 weeks, they should be safe at a 75° (F) low temperature. But, if a night drops below that temp, bring them back inside or put them under a red light that is raised to the temp they're supposed to be at.
When I was going through this, I put a reminder on my calendar of what temp they were supposed to be each week. That helped me a lot.
Hatch: 95°
1 Week Old: 90°
2 Weeks Old: 85°
3 Weeks Old: 80°
4 Weeks Old: 75°
5 Weeks Old: 70°
6 Weeks Old: 65°
7 Weeks Old: 60°
8 Weeks Old... should be fully feathered.
As for grit... make sure you use "chick grit". It is smaller sized grit.
