I think when my birds sing the egg song it sounds like they are swearing!

You know ... bawk, bawk, bawk, BAWK OFF !

Only my birds don't say 'bawk' - they have potty mouths :)

Quote: Sounds like your chicken is alerting on the cat. Warning all to be careful.
Over the years I've had many neighbor cats come into my backyard, At first the cats act all predatory, crouching, belly crawling, tail a twitching. The hens freak at first then put them in their place without problem. They seem to only alert on new cats. I guess they recognize them. They also don't alert on raccoons or possums either. Probably think they are cats. They should quiet down quickly.
I also don't think chicken noise travels that well. I had a neighbor 2 doors away with chickens that I could barely hear. And another neighbor with chickens 2 doors farther away that I couldn't hear. Didn't know they were there, till she told me. I knew she had birds because the pheasants or quails type birds were pretty loud.

just for fun:

Quote: I have some of her LF Salmon Favs. I love them! I am going to try breeding them next spring and see how I do. I got a great pair from her and hatched some eggs and kept the cockerel and two of the best pullets. I will see what I have when they all grow up, then go from there.

Tell her Hi for me when you see her again!

Jeanine does have the best Salmon Faverolles. If I were to add any to my flock I'd want to be sure they were Cloverleaf stock. Here are my two girls hatched from Cloverleaf eggs - this is Ondine and Twila. Sadly, I lost Twila last year from an unknown illness that took her quickly. I noticed she wasn't well, and 10 minutes later she died in my arms. I still miss her. But Ondine is going strong! She's still one of my biggest and friendliest birds.

She looked awesome so for your loss

Just curious about the typical leg color of a black sex link pullet. I have one I got a couple of weeks ago and her legs are the same color as my EE. Most of the pics I have seen of BSL's look more yellow in leg color but it could be the photo. Thanks!
My black star has dark grey legs. Half of her middle toe used to be yellow (same with my barred rock)! She's four months old, so dark grey is the final color for her.
