I sure hope you have many many people to move that.

I get a good laugh when I think about the first coop I made.
My idea was to use treated 2x4's for the vertical corners then everything else in 2x2's.

Surely that won't be that heavy to move I thought.
Couldn't have been more wrong. LOLOLOL!!!

Took 6 people to move that 4x8 coop and we had to take a few rest stops at that. LOLOL!!!

We only had about 15 feet to move it but it felt like a mile.

I get carried away when I build things as I remember the house my Dad and Uncle built for our family back in 1963 when wood was wood and framing was framing with all sorts of braces here and there.
I think that is in my blood.
That house be standing for another 200 years I guarantee you that.

Good to build your own when you can it is a great feeling when done.

Goodness!! Soooooo, perhaps I won't be moving it

Maybe I will just build all the raised beds around it and call it good then. I have not tried it to see how heavy it reallly is, but its only 2x2's and plywood. But plywood itself is somewhat on the heavy side....hmmmm

That's an easy move if you have 3 or 4 'rollers'. Like 2" PVC pipe in 5' lengths. Lift one end of the coop and set a pipe under it. Push the coop so it "rolls" on the pipe a little. Put down another section of pipe (in the direction you want to move) and push a little more. Keep doing this, keeping your pipe sections 2 or 3 feet from each other. When you roll the coop you'll be moving a pipe from 'behind' the coop to the 'front'.

Gosh - I hope you can figure out what I mean :)

OH! Here is a video of some guys moving a really heavy piece of shop equipment. See what they do with the sections of pipe? That's what I'm suggesting.

Hey, does anyone know what the poultry show in Oct is called and where I can get info on the dates and place? I want to go, and I think it's in Salem now.

I got my first egg from my barred rock about a hour ago. When I checked the box.

Hooray! Congrats, how fun! I "only" got 5 eggs today and was actually disappointed. LOL, we just started getting eggs 3 weeks ago and I'm already disappointed with 5

because yesterday there were 7! Hope your BR got a nice treat. I have started giving my girls all the pulp from our juicer and they LOVE it!

Oh boy! William just got into a yellow jacket nest and got stung 10 times! He's only 2!

Poor guy is a tough little booger and is just sitting watching a movie, but I bet he'll be knocked out soon. About 5 of the 10 stings were swelling like crazy so we gave him a huge (for his age) dose of Benadryl and put a baking soda paste with bandaids over the worst ones. What a rotten day for him! Isaac is leaving now to pick up some spray for the front yard to get rid of the nest. Argh!!!!!
Oh no! Poor little guy! I have a very clear memory of being stung by yellow jackets when I was small. I still have a fear of wasps. I hope he feels better soon. He's doing much better than my son would be - he's a total wuss for the slightest scratch or bump.
