I have a 10x10 pen I use for hospital with a doghouse for them to sleep in. I had four survivors of the dog attack, one who was super bad. She always had one of the other girls near her while she healed. I think they knew she just needed comfort.

I did the cage indoors for the one girl and she scratched litter out of the cage to much. I brought the most laid back silkie I had in to keep her company. They grew up together so she could offer comfort.

Next time I have to separate out, I'll be making sure they have a friend to keep them company again. They are social and I think they do better.

I have not been to a poultry show yet that cost to get in. The cost is getting OUT!

But oh so true!
My flock more than doubled in size when I walked out of the Monroe show in March, and I know quite a few folks left with more birds, eggs, etc. than they came

I need to do a bit of research and find a wasp/hornet killer that is non-toxic to other animals. Those critters like to make their nests in my chicken yard and I want to evict them.

I am guessing that my disclaimer may have scared off those who may have been thinking of meeting me. Well if so that sucks. Actually my intended point was that if you have had issues with me on here and think you may not like me, well it may be best we don't meet.
While I may be very opinionated and speak my mind. I really feel that those who have met me and had a chance to get to know me won't have much bad to say. Not that I am perfect but I sincerely for the most part try to be a good person and treat others well.
So hopefully some of us can meet up at the sale and start clean. And how will ya know me well ask itsren or Justahannah. They didn't seem to any problem at all in all the people there last week!!

My only problem is that I live quite far north! Hopefully there will be some sort of meet-up that is a bit closer some time in the future.

Tilda is still the same. She can barely walk, hasn't eaten in 36 hours, and stopped drinking unless I syringe liquids into her. Stuff's still moving through her though because she's pooping yellow water and a teensy bit of solids. I'm just sick over her. How does one know if a chicken is truly suffering? If she's in a lot of pain we'll take care of her tonight; if not I think I'll wait her out. I just don't know the signs.
Sorry to hear, Jess.

Hopefully she will pull through. Have you tried the molasses flush that people talked about?

Go out after dark when they are asleep, and knock the nest down with a broom or a stream of water.

And soapy water will drown them even better. I keep a spray bottle of it around in case I get a wasp in the house. I'm not sure how you'd take out a whole nest, except maybe dump a bucket over it at night?
