Northend Meet-up this Friday, October 5, Third Place Books

Farmin Momma: I just suggested noon as a starting point.
Myself, I could easily get there a little earlier.
How about 11:00?

JenS: would 11:00 make things more difficult for you?

Anyone object to a time change?

Looks like so far we have TerrorBird, KMHunter, Slinglings, Hallerlake, Farmin Momma, JenS and me.
(I sent jenreinke a PM.)
How about you, RonB?

For those not familiar with Third Place - there are lots of little fast-food type places in the Commons.
Easy to have a little lunch or just a cup of coffee and something yummy from the bakery.

And to all the south end friends: we call it a "northend" meet-up because of location.
We would LOVE to have any or all of you come join us!
That would be such fun. Maybe carpool up here?
Oh sure, I see how it is... Now that I'm back on the wrong side of the mountains, you all decide to have a meet-up.

How was your vacation????

How's your broody? When is hatching day?
Vacation was great ! Took a cruise from Vancouver to San Diego. then spent a day and a half there and flew home! weather was Great!!!
Hatching day is this Saturday. Maybe Friday night huh?? Lost another baby while I was gone probably to a hawk

Oh My! I DEFINITELY want to become one of your neighbors!!! I've never seen carton like that before, where can I buy them?
I also have 3 girls, but very rarely have extras, what's your secret?

FlyRobinFly can tell you where to get them. I was wondering if people here on BYC wanted to pool together to buy a bulk order. Anyone?

As for the eggs... so far my girls are being faithful in laying. I'm usually getting 3 eggs a day, and some days I get 2. Rarely I get 1. I'm allergic to eggs, so I don't tend to cook with eggs. My kids will occasionally get scrambled eggs before school, and on the weekends I make up a huge batch of scrambled eggs for DH and the kids to eat. I usually scramble 12-14 eggs and whatever they don't eat, the chickens finish off. Even though I gave 6 away, I'm guessing I'll have close to a dozen to feed the family on our weekend scrambled egg day.

here is a few divide & conquer videos, 1,2,3 & 4....for JB:

http://www.hgtv.com/video/divided-quilting4-video/index.html

The method I use is a bit different and is detailed in the book "Reversible Quilts Two at a Time" by Sharon Pederson. I borrowed it from the library rather than buying it. I looked on-line for a video but didn't find one. There are several methods of assembling quilt blocks that have already been quilted, Fun and Done is one I've seen, and the Cotton method (that's her last name -- Cotton). I just happen to like Sharon Pederson's method. If you want more info. give me a holler.

For others that may be searching for information: I noticed that several of the "quilt as you go" videos on youTube don't show how to attach the blocks, so don't be fooled if that's what you find. The quilting is just one piece of the process. What CL and I are discussing is the assembly after the quilting.

If prayer actually worked - nobody would ever need pain meds.

To each his own.
She asked for prayer for her DH, from one praying family to another, I sent a prayer. My family and I believe in the power of prayer, so does Jess's family or she wouldn't have asked for them. No one ever said you had to believe. Like another member said, what others believe is no skin off your nose".

Since everyone else is posting pictures, I'll just toss my latest up! He's my funny guy Lyle (as in Lovett)! He makes Velociraptor noises from the garden in his spare time.

He is a cool lookin guy!

Funniest Chicken running is a LF Cochin...the big fluffy birds run with toes pointed in big swooping leaps, like big fat ballerinas.
Hilarious !

We love watching them run, it's hilarious!!

Alright I'm caught up, just skimmed everything. Snow White and the Huntsman is an excellent movie if anyone wants a grownup movie. Do NOT show it to young children. I wouldn't show something like that to my kids younger than 10 probably (though we're pretty protective of their little minds, moreso than most). I love that it's a classic old tale for adults, and awesome actors. Charlise Theron, Kristin Stewart, and that chunk of hotness from Thor. YUM.

Lots of school this morning though I feel awful. My back and neck pain has returned and I need to head back to PT to get checked out/straightened out again and resume my exercises. Hoping it's not too painful to get John through school this morning. TTYL!

That's good to know about the movie, I want to see that one too!

Sorry your having so much pain, I hope you can get it all taken care of soon.

I am having spiced zuchinni-Applesauce bread for breakfast, with Cream Cheese Frosting.......and a coffa cuppy....

Yummmm x's 2!!

If belief comforts people, let them be comforted.

It's no skin off your nose.

That's what I was thinking! Wasn't really sure what the point of VFs post was but like you said, other peoples beliefs are no skin off my nose.

I've got pages of posts to go back and read. I'll get to it later. (Reminder to self: 8646)

This is what I've been working on this morning while I was on a long call with the Autism Center. These are for my gift boxes of eggs for the neighbors. I'll attach the tag with a pretty bow. I'm hoping for 3 eggs today so the first box can go out to one of the neighbors this evening. I'm hoping to get enough eggs to deliver a box each week to the neighbors that surround my house.

My goofy chicken hat came this morning. It is so cute! I love it.

Oh my!!! These are fantastic!! I love it! I saw your eggs all packaged up in those super cute little cartons too and wow! You are very creative! We aren't moving but...you can "pretend" to be my neighbor anytime you want, I will gladly except your seriously cute gifts!!

Another Quilt....
I saw the beautiful quilts from a few days ago, I especially like the batik wedding quilt! Can't get enough of the batiks!
Here's one I did with my Mom a couple of years ago. It's done with the "quilt as you go" method someone else mentioned. You can tell by looking at the back, each large square and the borders were done as stand-alone units, all the way through the quilting stage. Then they were sewn together and the binding was done. It's a great way to manage a large quilt on a home sewing machine. I can't justify the cost of paying someone else to do the quilting on every quilt so it works well for me.

The back.....

Each block is quilted differently. I liked the hen -- can you see I quilted eggs into the basket?

Oh I love this one too! Very pretty!

Long icky day today. Up at 5 - out the door by 5:15. Blow by my office to pick up a few things, and then a road trip to Bellevue. Work there all day, fighting with the database guys in Dallas. On the road again to come home at 5 -- just got past the blast zone before the pass was closed for an hour while they set of charges.

Dang I'm tired.

DANG!! That sounds nasty! I HATE fighting with database guys.... send them to the blast zone!

So, should I help a chick out of its egg, and if so, when? The chick still peeps at me, and there is non-stop tapping coming from the incubator, but the hole in the egg is about the same size. None of the others have pipped, but it's hard to tell if there is more than one set of tapping. I'm getting discouraged.
