I live in NE Seattle, near Shoreline, LakeForest Park. Am I closer to you in Sammamish or Cucina in South Seattle? .. I don't leave the 'hood much I could potentially want three, so I may be better off going directly to the source unless you have three to spare.
I think it maybe about the same distance. I know it takes me about 45min to an hour to get to Lake Forest Park. But then I stay away from I-5 at all costs! LOL. Looks like I will be picking up my grains around 2pm so I should know by tomorrow how I will be storing them, and how many extras I have. I found the barrels for free on craigslist. They seem to seal very well. I'll let you know how many extra I have as soon as I know.
Maybe you could call some local restaurants to ask if they get deliveries in 55 gallon barrels.

That's good to know. I guess if we get desperate and have to open because it is out of water, that's what we do.

DH and I are trying to figure out what to do for the cover for the water pots. Farmin' Momma - hardware cloth might be what we do. I'm going to have to open them later this evening to put it in though. I've gotta get my allergy shot.

To cover the water cups..... what about hardware cloth cut into a circle to fit just inside at the top or to fold over the top so they can't get in!?

Wish I had thought of it before I went into lockdown. I can fix it this evening. Yep, I'll be breaking lockdown the day I go into it, but I don't know what else to do - I have to get to the doc before they close to get my allergy shot.

Thanks! I bought one from RainWolf today but it doesn't have a lid (it is all one piece with a pour spout type thing). I'll make do with this one for now but will probably want a couple with removable lids.

If they are gnawing inside ductwork, what exactly are they gnawing ?
It is all metal...

It may be a blessing though, uncork a floor vent nearby the gnawing & drop a bug bomb in, then cork it back up.
Maybe that'll run them out of the duct work ?
Then again, Led Zepplin should work too !
Stick some music down there for them...........

Then you have to crawl under the house & see where they are gtting in...ducts should be sealed.

For candling, you need high lumens (that's the brightness measure). Most flashlights you find, especially small ones, don't have very high lumens.

We spent 30 bucks on the 220 lumen small flashlight I use to candle. DH has this flashlight thing going on. They draw him like a magnet. He picked up one of these for in his truck. When I couldn't see into my eggs with the other flashlight I was using, I borrowed it and it worked well enough that he bought me one just for that.

Only problem is, the lumens aren't high enough for me to see into a lot of my EEs eggs. If they lay the very thick shells, or have the olive shells, I can't see. I'm jonesing for the 800 lumen light I saw at the sporting good store. Bringing myself to pay how much they want for that isn't working right now.

CL - am I going into lockdown too early? I'm on Day 17, but 4 out of 5 are wiggling periodically (not all the time). I took the turner out, filled both cups to the top. I hope I'm doing the right thing. If I need to get the turner back in, let me know pleas, ASAP.

Sometimes, they pip early.
My Ameraucanas always piped on day 20, or sometimes day 19..they were very fiesty babies.
Some pip on day 22.
It just pays to lockdown on day 17 & stay locked down.
Opening the bator after day 17 can give them shrink wrapped, where the membrane dries & is too tough for them to pip through.

Fill the water up now, then keep it shut.
