LMAO! The cat part got me.

If they are rats, rats can gnaw through metal if they are determined.
I was laughing too...thinking off the quiet after the cat is shoved in there...then screaming & banging during the fight !
Then quiet again...hopeing the cat won !

CR I am not sure if Salmon Favs are a duck wing.....a BBR coloration (Black Breasted Red)
Do they have chipmunk babies ?
If so, maybe they are a duck wing variety...ask Clover.

Been away for several days and just popping in to say hi. Hope all's well with folks and their flocks, especially those with injured birds.

Renee, good luck with the hatch! Don't fret about the brooder, you can always use a cardboard box temporarily if you need to.

Have fun to those going to the Salem show. Wish I could be there.

Cr, It looks to me like the Salmon Fav may be a golden Duckwing coloration...but not positive

https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/...ng-black-breasted-red-aov-non-standard-colors

Go down til you see the golden duckwing & compare the color pattern to the salmon fav

It is a color that can be on many different breeds.
Example, I have several breeds that are Black Breasted Reds, one is Wellsummers, another BBR is Partridge Chantecler (or any partridge breed such as Partridge Cochins, or Partridge Rocks)
Hope this helps you understand.

Hi Robin! Hope you're good-busy, not bad-busy.

Renee - I'm DYING to meet your newbies after they hatch. When can we come over!?????!!!!! Friday? Saturday? Or are you going to be gone this weekend??

Quote: CR you used to show!! You know how that goes!!! But, I must say, it's NOT common in a closed herd. I have had no colds, or respiratory infections or anything in the almost two years I've had my goats.
I'm sure it'll be fine.
Yes I did show goats I also made a point to "wrap my stalls" with blue tarps to reduce the contact with others. Also unlike in the poultry world with Pygmy goats EVERY goat got a "health check" before it was allowed to unload. Goats that didn't pass including external parasites were sent home.

Right! but you know that there are lots of people who don't do that, and they get the snots!! I've heard it from other goat showing people too! That was the point I was trying to make, not everyone is conscientious or careful.
