Hi all,

I've a small chicken coop for a couple of birds (free range during the day so it's just basically a 1.5m x 1.5m with a nesting box). There looks to be an wasps nest formed in the corner of the roof - no idea what species are common in Scotland unfortunately. Do they present any danger to the birds? The chickens don't seem at all bothered or interested in the nest, and while there are a couple of wasps crawling on the nest, it's about the size of a grapefruit and certainly isn't swarming.

(By coincidence I'm having someone come in to remove a nest from my boiler housing so will get them to remove it in a few days at the same time, but wondered if I should be worried in the meantime as I could house the birds in the conservatory if there's any danger).

Many thanks as always!

I have a decent amount of paper wasp nests on and around my coop now that it is high summer. So far they have all co-existed without incident.
