Is there a preventative treatment for mites on baby chicks? I was told spray with vinegar mixture.

For baby chicks I would NOT treat them for mites unless they have mites. Mites can kill chickens, so if they do have mites, then treat.

I would not use vinegar.

Poultry dust from the feed store is what I use. Make sure to repeat in 7 days for mites and again at 7/14 days for lice. Toss all bedding/nesting material each time. Spray or dust coop.

Vinegar kills weeds great though- takes about a week to work.

I'm not sure about the mites but they scratch and peck under their wings.
